Ebay find...a Type 3 Stanley No. 45......$36 + Tax + S&H....$52..arrived here last week....Last Friday, though...I had a trip to see about a leaky blood vessel in my head...

So, finally got back home today.   New meds, got rid of some others.....smallish Stroke.    Still worn out and sore....may take a few days to get back to "normal"....

Any...seems this plane will need a lot of cleaning up..

99% of the black Japanning is ...gone.   Wood is in great shape.

This is supposed to be all black, except for the raised boss where the fence will rub, and those BRASS bolts..

Same here, skate needs shined up, Brass needs cleaned up, the rest needs black coloured..

Those rods need cleaned up.   They thread into the main stock.  Wingnuts need cleaned up.  Wood could use some soap, and a new finish...

Might take a day or two.....will give me some time to find a few cutters, too...until then, I can "borrow" a few from the Type 20 I already have.

Stay tuned....

Take it easy, besides I we need some time to catch up on projects.  Not all of us can churn one out every 5-6 days.  B)

Steve, we've been missing you.  About to put out a BOLO on you.  So good to have you back and now you have a project already.  Please take good care of yourself.  We can't do without you around here.

Exactly, we are not on a good run the past 7 days.  I about went up in smoke and you decided to start leaking>

If you and Gunny don't stop getting into trouble we may have lock y'all up in the shop, oh no that is not punishment.:throbbinghead:

When I got my 45 on eBay took a while to get the long rods and then had to buy three sets of cutters to get almost complete set of hollows and rounds plus flats and actually got a tenon cutter in one set. And then the boxes , to get original is rough.

Problem is....NOW I'll need to build a box/case for this new to me plane.:ChinScratch:....not enough room to stick it in with the other Stanley #45....

Latest 45 is now cleaned up.  Had to change out one spur....was too worn down.   Cleaned all the dirt and crud off....plane is actually nickel plated...in other words, it is  a Type 4 version....not a type 3....oh well...

Patent Date MAR 11 94....1894, that is...

have it set up as a 3/4" wide Dado cutter...

Trying to decide whether to lift a lid, or make a slider lid......:ChinScratch:

Like Gene said, "Beautiful job on a beautiful old tool."  +1

Just noticed a big difference from mine. Yours has knurled slotted screws and mine has thumb screws. Now I am guessing yours is older because those screws have got to be more expensive. Looking good now there.
