Thank God the election is tomorrow! I thought it was bad during the general election. That didn't compare to the level of non-stop BS we have been subjected to for the past two months. Haven't even been able to enjoy a You Tube video without first seeing the political commercial... And yes, I know it doesn't miraculously stop tomorrow - but some of it might slow down So you didn't go to the rallies?

A number these days seem to be making a living by posting YouTube videos and some get corporate sponsors. I watched a few woodworking videos over Christmas break and now I'm inundated with all sorts of people who are posting videos, looking for likes, subscribes and Patreons.
January 5, 20215 yr Popular Post Dusted off the touch up skills and rehabbed a nightstand that my daughter salvaged. It was dirty, had a bunch of spots of missing finish (and color), chips and dings and food spots. Cleaned, touched up color, did a couple burn-in repairs, fixed up scratches, and applied a few coats of toner and clear lacquer. I have got to remember to take "before" pictures. Oh, sure...we're supposed to believe you made it look that spectacular! Seriously, very nice job!

I've tried to watch a few, and have given up. I tried watching Woodcademy and actually fell asleep (twice, on 2 different shows). I also gave a shot at the "Wood Whisperer", who has a fairly large following, and to me it struck me as one very long advertisement. I do think he has a good sense of humor, but there just isn't the panache of some of my favorites from years ago. I'm watched those on Amazon Prime (on the TV), so I haven't been deluged with any of the UTube BS.
January 5, 20215 yr I've seen one or two Rob Cosman. But it seems all his videos are at least an hour long. Long time ago (in Youtube years), I saw a few StumpyNubs, Steve Ramsey (WWMM), Mathias Wandel (of Pantorouter fame), and Jay's woodworking. DiResta irritates me a little with everything stenciled with his name (just so you don't forget). Ron Paulk definitely drinks the green Kool-Aid. I've watched a few "Fixing Furniture" lately to compare methods. I like his woodworking but his finishing/touchup is radically different than mine.

January 6, 20215 yr Popular Post Today, I put together a frame for a poster, Roubo's "L'art d'un 'Menuisier" that I got as an an Xmas present. I think it took longer to decide on a framing profile than it did to make it. Found a nice piece of cherry for the stock. First coat of finish (BLO) on now.
