Unfortunately Shopsmith, Inc. is a shadow of its former self.   I drive by home office/factory a few times a year.  What used to be their whole building barely has their name on a sign.  They don't even have a factory store any more.   I had a friend who when he lost his job became a demo/sales rep and did really well.   Was one of their top sales guys, then he got laid off.   It's been a few years since I've even seen them at the Ohio State Fair where they used to have a tent.

Back in the the day, it seemed like you as a hobbyist had few choices -- Delta, Craftsman, and Shopsmith.  Hitachi and Makita moved in during the '80s, then Grizzly, Jet, Laguna, Sawstop, Dewalt, and a plethora of Taiwanese and Chinese mfrs making under various labels varying only in color and trim.   Amazon offering lots.  Even the local Parks Planer company is out of business now.

Not saying any of it is bad, but it's a more competitive environment now.  To make matters worse for them, widows and heirs are selling them for way less than new and they don't seem to wear out.
