I am curious to your thoughts.  How many times can you hone before the tip is too thin and weak?  Does it really sharpen it back to be efficient cutting?  What about the screw that holds it in place?  So many questions and not enough information.  Curious to your thoughts.

I had an opportunity to sit in on a virtual discussion with the owner of Easy Wood Tools (among others). This subject was brought up. The consensus was that the cutters could be honed but they would never be as sharp as they were originally.

Take a good look at the insert.  Use a magnifying glass if necessary.  It is my experience that the carbide chips as it becomes dull.  The tip has to be renewed so there is no more chips to really be sharp.

Been using carbide tips on brake lathes for years. You can turn them 6 times and then done.  And they last a decent amount of time if your not a hog on each cut. That's against steel rotors.  Against wood I expect them to last a even longer time.

Had this set for 25 years. Still have yet to use even half of them.
