Hey Artie, does your machine have the new motor? The digital one?

Artie, I forgot to say how much I love those storage shelves for your SPT's.  I love the idea and functionality.

Bradford pear does not smell good to me.  Actually, it stinks.  But, I will have a few bags full in a couple of weeks as I am turning 23 rolling pins and a few writing pens and if I have sufficient scrap, an ornament or 2.

Thank you Al for all the kind words.  John, yes I have the electronic motor, not sure where I stand on that right now. I keep getting a Low Voltage warning when I’m using the SS, and it turns off. Not all the time, but often enough to be frustrating. Checked all connections, and can’t measure any voltage deficiencies. I feel this wouldn’t affect the non electronic motors. If this turns out to be an issue that needs some serious repair, I might try a second motor, non electronic. I really like all the advantages of the electronic motor, but I need reliability also. Steve I have no idea how pear wood smells, but my imagination told me that since it is a  fruit tree it would smell nice. I dunno where the idea to make upside down drawers, and use slides for access to the SPT’s came from, but I’m pretty sure I didn’t come up with it. I probably saw it in a WW’ing magazine, or on one of the WW’ing forums. I’m a form must follow function guy, but Man some of that form is beautiful.

Did you contact Shopsmith?

Yes I can send it in to them and they will look at it. Not sure I’m interested in that right now.

Artie, on some of the SS forums, some folks who had a similar problem sent in their PowerPro headstocks to have the board replaced.  Others simply applied some air pressure to clean the board and it has worked fine.  But, sometimes the board breaks down.

Now, folks, this is evidence that Artie is making sawdust.  I am now looking for shavings.  LOL

I have had the same warning on both PP headstocks. Are you using it on 110 or 220 ? I have found they are both doing better on 220. It eliminated the problem completely. Per John's post they do recommend you blow them out with compressed air now and then but on mine that didn't make any difference. Also in the beginning on 110 I didn't have them on dedicated 20 Amp circuits. Although the warning says low voltage I believe its the same message for low amps as well.

I started on dedicated 220 volt circuit, then thought I would switch to a 110 volt circuit (also dedicated) (being a sparky is good, sometimes :) ). Had same problem on both voltages. Made a small little project for me Missus this summer, but thats been about it. Haven’t even got to go metal detecting in a month. We’ve been straight out trying to get the schools ready for the kids. Very different this year. Worked all of last weekend, including the holiday (DOUBLE TIME). My check on Wednesday should be the biggest in quite sometime.
