I wanted to turn something today so I took a chunk of scrap wood I was going to use a while back.  Its oak so it was tough wood to cut through.  But I wound up turning a cup it actually came out quite successful in the end.  Scrap to something not too bad.  I didn't water seal it or anything just mineral oil on it.  Did the water test in the end it worked out pretty good.  I'm happy with it at least.  But this one will NOT be going to anyone.  I've got to get better finishing out the bottoms of the cups on the inside.  The video is there not sure why it didn't come up with a image capture.  Either way it works.

Well we have now worked up to cups . If you have more of that scrap left try a goblet. It is just like a cup to start and then put a stem at the bottom. I think you are making good progress.

Goblets are still on the list of things to knock off @Gerald  I'm still trying to source out where I can buy acrylic bowl blanks as well LOL.  Its just easier to purchase from someone who knows exactly what their doing with that sort of thing.  The cup was an interesting experiment.  Not to mention it let me give my new video editing software a try out and I really like it.

Not sure this is what you want as I did not look at all but it is nice.

Here is how it turned out in the long run...

 

Not bad . First efforts to do this are always frustrating. You will be amazed at the number of designs for goblets you can come up with. To name a few Champagne flutes, beads on stem, captured rings, decorated foot, And then into carving, burning and dying. Oh and then getting thinner and thinner are fun also. Think of it like a glass, the finer the glass the thinner it will be.

 

You do amaze me with the challenges you have set for yourself. Keep it up.

Thanks... I guess you could say I prefer the challenges.  It keeps my brain thinking and problem solving for the most part.
