@patriotwoodworker, it is great to have you here.  Thank you for showing your work.  I am curious as to which part of the Florida panhandle.  Eastern time or Central time?

It is good to see that someone can actually find someway to stabilize live oak.  It is so unpredictable.  All I have ever tried to use would cup, twist, warp and bow.  I have talked with several woodworkers with the same results.  So, those are great looking bowls and your craftsmanship is to be greatly admired.

What kind of gouges?  What finishes?

We were stationed at Eglin AFB, so Eastern time.

Thank you so much for the kind words. These were finished turned green and I had zero warping or cracking. I must have gotten lucky.

For gouges I use Benjamin’s Best turning tools. Never tried carbide, so I just stick with the traditional tools. My primary finish is just Minwax wipe on poly. For food safe finish I use walnut oil. I have used friction polish a little as well.
