It seems like I bought this grinder when I started building the go-cart track and we opened in 84 so its a couple of years older than that. I know its got a lot of miles to it....

The only reason I show this is because it is the easiest cord fix I ever did do... For the last couple of years I been having to push the cord pass the problem while running and today I had some time extra so hey, they have made it simple for anyone to repair these grinders...cord wise, that is!

Yes, it came from HF and is still running! I think I got my 20 bucks worth long ago.

Time for a new grinder, I have a 4 1/2 inch Dewalt and it has NEVER steered me wrong, with flap discs it will take off wood like crazy not to mention putting a high shine on steel with the finer grits.  Of course the carbide discs with those you get what you pay for.

NEVER USE A CUT OFF WHEEL WITH OUT A GUARD PERIOD USE TWO HANDS WHEN CUTTING.  KICK BACK WILL CUT YOUR HAND OFF.

You might go crazy if you was to walk in to my shop. There is not one grinder in my shop and I have lots of different types from the 16" metal cut off saws open down to what Gun has in his picture with guards on....And none on the 10 and the 12" table saws. And I started out in 1950 with a table saw but was only a 9" model Sears I do believe... Haven't lost any blood at a table saw yet...The place where I loose my blood is from the Dremel with those small 1/8" shaft size bits. Sometimes the bits are rubbing my fingers while I am grinding the wood away. And for sure having gloves on just makes it worse

While I generally eschew HF stuff that has an electric cord attached, I admit there are a lot of guys who own their angle grinders and have had yeoman service with them. They should probably be added to the ever growing list of HF "gems".

I had a trim router for 20 yes from HF.  Worked great.  When it died got another one.

Pawn shop dropped off 3 saws and a grinder for new cords.  Probably do 2 a week average for the woman.

I've quite using cut off wheels all together unless firmly mounted in a chop saw.  Had a few close calls myself and little brother had a nasty kick back and dang near cut off his hand.  So you wont ever catch me using them again.

Andrew do you not ever ride in a car anymore or fly in an airplane or ride a train or in boats...They crash or sink all the time. People die all the time...At least these shop accidents might rearrange a little skin sometimes but people usually don't die like they do out in the mean world....

You sure do seem to have a lot of irons in the fire....stay busy much?

@Smallpatch  That is very true.  But even with that I wont use them, grinders with carbide grinding discs and flap discs I'll use all day no problem but cut off wheels NOPE.

Probably not orthodox...or kosher... but, I stick cut off disks on my Skil 77. No problems....yet.

I've taken off every guard on just about every tool I've ever owned.

Knowing rotation, pressure, material and friction and staying out of the path of the blade has allowed me to cut everything from stone to metal accident free ( looking for a tree to knock on).  I've had more trouble with cheaply made router bits than I have with guards.

Grinder I have is a HF, bought it back in the early 90’s. Not used a whole lot, still works.

I am really impressed that any corded tool from HF works past 20 minutes.  Kudos to you for making it last this long and kudos to rewiring it.
