July 18, 20206 yr comment_235734 That is beautiful. Always amazing how a square block glue up comes out when you shape it on the lathe. Report
July 19, 20206 yr comment_235738 Beautiful! I'd be interested in seeing the "before" picture of the glue-up. Report

Jim, The block glued up of Walnut and mostly maple is featured in my earlier entry about 3 entries ago. I started with 2 identical blocks. The earlier turning result is featured in the earlier post Edited July 19, 20206 yr by Ron Altier Report

July 19, 20206 yr Author Popular Post comment_235744 I am not versed in cube terms. I wanted to tell you how I turned it. So here is the real definition of how I turned it. I had a cube, A solid with six congruent square faces. a regular hexahedron. The point in a cube where 3 lines intersect at the corner is called vertex I put one vertex in the headstock and the opposing vertex in the tailstock. Which means one good turn deserves another. It TURNED out good Report
July 19, 20206 yr Popular Post comment_235755 Didn't you need to flatten the vertices a bit? In which case, would it not have become an octahedron? In any case, you turned it into beautiful ovoidal ornament. Report
