FlGatorwood Posted July 15, 2020 Report Posted July 15, 2020 Thanks, Andrew. I have never seen this before, but different chucks operate differently. So, all I can say is that is very unusual from what I have seen. Again, thanks. Gunny 1 Quote

One of the major advantages of the Easy Wood Chuck. The jaw changes are so easy (usually in less that 30 seconds for all 4). The chuck is more expensive up front but actually saves you money in the long run. Gunny and FlGatorwood 2 Quote
AndrewB Posted July 15, 2020 Author Report Posted July 15, 2020 Sadly I don't think I can pick one of those up unfortunately due to the cost. Its an I wish I had sort of thing LOL. FlGatorwood 1 Quote

FlGatorwood Posted July 15, 2020 Report Posted July 15, 2020 Gunny, I like it. I have used a large hand screw clamping it to the Shopsmith table. Most of the time, I can twist one handle, remove the bored one and replace it with one to be bored. It's quick and easy. But, you have to have all the blanks cut the same. Cal and Gunny 2 Quote
AndrewB Posted July 16, 2020 Author Report Posted July 16, 2020 hmmm Id probably have the buy one lol I don't have the patience to fabricate something as nice as that mine would probably wind up being half ************ if ya catch what I mean LOL. Still lacking a lot of proper tools. FlGatorwood 1 Quote

Will also do dowels and other odd shaped objects if needed. Originally was just for pen blanks, now a good jig for those kind of jobs. Made this jig for pipe and dowel work. Gerald Posted July 16, 2020 Report Posted July 16, 2020 I use Pen Turners jaws in my SN2 chuck and drill on lathe using Jacobs in tailstock. FlGatorwood and Gunny 2 Quote
AndrewB Posted July 16, 2020 Author Report Posted July 16, 2020 Yea @Gerald I planned ahead on that one and got those a few weeks ago sometime last month. I pick up the set specifically for the nova chuck. FlGatorwood and Gerald 1 1 Quote
FlGatorwood Posted July 16, 2020 Report Posted July 16, 2020 Thank you, Gerald. That is a great idea. I think I will try using my pen jaws on my chuck to see how well that works. Andrew, in my day as a systems analyst, we hung so much software that was incomplete, we had to develop work arounds, that in this world of woodworking, you can stop buying tools if you have something you can improvise. Take a few minutes and see what you already have or you will have a shop full of tools that you may not use anymore. Sorry, for being so forward, but I try to get along as much as I can without buying something else. If you have a set of pen jaws with your chuck, you may have all you need if I understand Gerald's post correctly. Gunny and Cal 2 Quote

Very true for many woodworkers. I know, well I need this to be able to do that, how else would I get this done? So while working in Iraq I had the following tools, a hammer, a cordless drill, handsaw, and a circular saw. Made cabinets with just that, and used recycled plywood from the dump as raw material. I swapped that furniture for other items I wanted on a regular basis. Even turned stuff using a junk screwdriver sharpened down to be a skew chisel and the cordless drill mounted into a holder as my motor. For my tailstock I used a bearing welded to a bracket mounted to the top of a barrel table. Cal 1 Quote
