Popular Post John Morris Posted May 25, 2020 Popular Post Report Posted May 25, 2020 Good Monday Morning! Good Monday morning Patriot Woodworkers! What did you get done over the weekend, and what have you planned for the week ahead! Inquiring minds want to know. Please tell us what's happening in your shops, your life, and any events going on with you. Thank you for being here folks! Today is a day of reflection for our family, and also a chance to unite and be in each others presence. We are going to do the traditional barbecue but only with the four of us, mama and me, our son and our oldest daughter, our youngest girl is in the Army and away, so we are missing her always and our elderly relatives are staying put in their homes. This will be the first Memorial Day that our baby girl is not with us, and these firsts will continue as along as she is in the Army and away from us. From what our soldier tells us, the command is creating a nice day of barbecue and camaraderie for the troops and their families on base with flags flying half mast. Yesterday myself, mama and our two remaining kids, hiked the woods and enjoyed some peaceful scenery. We walked and walked, until we came upon a thin narrow trail with a sign at the entrance, that stated "Mountain Lion sighted May 21, proceed with caution". We decided to not proceed, in our experience and exposure to this area, our lions can be very aggressive and groups of people don't seem to phase them much anymore, so we just turned around and headed back. But not before me and mama got a picture! The Morris family wishes you all the best today, please be safe, stay sane, and if you are away from home and may have indulged in the fun a little too much, please call a taxi, or ask a sober friend to drive home. Have a good, meaningful Memorial day! Popular Post FlGatorwood Posted May 26, 2020 Popular Post Report Posted May 26, 2020 This is always a mixed day for me. When I worked, it was an extra day to catch up on projects around the house. I always thought of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Onboard ship, we didn't have to face Charlie as intensely as those on the ground or the rivers patrolling the villages, but we had lose of life. I have gone to the wall here in Pensacola and I go touch those names who served with me. Then, to maintain control, I come back to the house to continue a project. Today, cutting off the freunds of the downed palm tree. Today, all removed and placed curbside. Cut off about 3 pieces of the trunk. God bless all my brothers, living and fallen. Popular Post JimM Posted May 26, 2020 Popular Post Report Posted May 26, 2020 My grandson's other Papa was a pilot in Viet Nam. A couple of years ago, the moving wall came to our small city in central NY. I was able to get a picture of Papa Brian with two of his grandchildren in front of the wall. Hopefully, they will recognize the significance of it someday. HARO50, p_toad, FlGatorwood and 3 others 6 Quote
