I really don't like AC so we keep ours at 78 and only use it if the temp inside gets to 82.  MY rhinitis thanks me for this.    Being from Ukraine AC is what my wife calls a luxury and she still prefers the open the windows method.  Dusting, been married 10 years her only comment about it is "It is our reality."

Just a follow up, we never did the whole house fan. Our doggy vet bills eliminated that project. But it was worth it. 😊
