My twin TS build has side casters that raise and lower. But at 1100 lbs it really is hard to just casually move. Get 4 people and yes it will move.  Not fun but possible.:D

Gene---also available, locking castors that lock both motion and swivel---I have used several such castors.

Thanks, Marv. That's a new one on me. But then, I don't get out much.

I'm a little late to the party, and Marv beat me to it, but I also use the castors that lock both functions. They are rock solid in use, and only a bit more expensive than the ones that still swivel.

I have concrete floors so all my casters are steel and are much stronger than any soft caster that will eventually have flat areas if left sitting too long in the same spot. The 2" steel casters are what I started buying from tractor supply many years ago and now HF has the same thing...Also for my big compressor I wanted as quiet as possible so using a large hole saw I cut some circles out of some old tire treads and use them for the compressor to sit on. Best thing I could have done 50 years ago and they are still there only this it the third building in that length of time. Before that I had a small compressor and it was on real small casters and it vibrated all over the floor.

The D2058A Shop Fox® Heavy Duty Mobile Bases are designed to give you a stable and mobile platform upon which to mount machinery and equipment having a variety of base sizes and weights. The heavy-duty metal casters are arranged on outriggers allowing the machine to sit as low as possible and yet be extremely stable. Swivel casters on two corners provide excellent maneuverability.

I have one of those Shop Fox bases (under my DP) and I won't buy another. Just not happy with the quality of it.

I have a Jet 17 inch DP and got the base from JET to got with it.  But I am always leery of MOVING it.  It's like wrestling an octopus.  :throbbinghead:

Most everyone warns not to put a DP on a mobile base, since it's so overwhelmingly top heavy. But if you have to move it around on occasion it makes life a lot simpler....just be cautious.

I have a wide piece of ply under my DP . When I move it I tip it enough to get round barstock under the ply. Not the easiest thing even then to move but does the job pretty well.

Hate to admit it but the last time I moved mine it got away from me.  Took an hour to mount a block and tackle to the floor joist and get it back upright again.  Cover over belts still doesn't close right but that was the only loss.  It will be a cold day in HELL before I try moving it again without help.  Scary experience.
