E cabinets

Featured Replies

I use to run ECABINETS but my computer is out of date. I'm not a computer person and have lost touch with today's options.

If your familiar with E cabinets is there a suggestion for a laptop I could carry with me. Not looking for expensive, just something that will run the program...thx...

According to their site, these are the minimum requirements for their latest version. I'll check some popular sites for some prices.

3.0GHz Intel or AMD Processor

512MB nVidia GeForce or ATI Radeon series dedicated video card

Windows 7 32-bit (eCabinet Systems recommends Windows 10 Professional 64-bit)

Note: Windows 2000, Windows 95, 98, Me, and NT 4 are NOT supported.

2GB with Windows 7 32-bit, 4GB with Windows 7 64-bit

XGA (1024X768) 17" Monitor

Internet Connection (either modem or broadband)

Two-button mouse w/Scroll

This is the least expensive one I could find- that most closely matches the eCabinets spec- at the sites I generally buy from-

https://www.newegg.com/silver-hp17hd-1971cl-mainstream/p/1TS-000D-08406?&quicklink=true

Anything with a 17" monitor will be on the expensive side. You might consider a refurbished model. Not sure how you feel about that type of purchase.

The sites I checked were:

www.tigerdirect.com

www.newegg.com

www.staples.com

www.walmart.com

The guy that wanted me to do the cabinets bought a computer that was $1500. I asked him today what he wanted for it as he said after he left that designer he didn't really need it. He said he would do some trading but I don't know what that is at this time. If I get some information I'll post it as I only know how to run  the ecabinets software and the computer guts I'm confused on.

Here are the recommended requirements from eCabinets-

Intel® Core™ i7 Quad Core Processor (i7-6700HQ) at 3.50GHz (or faster)

Windows® 10 Professional 64-bit

8 GB, DDR3 or DDR4

256GB SSD Hard Drive

2GB nVidia® Quadro® 1000M Graphics Card

Integrated Ethernet

Two-button mouse w/Scroll

Broadband Internet Access

Microsoft Office Home and Business

Your Dell Inspiron 15 could have several configurations. If you have the model number, serial number and service tag number, the Dell site can tell you exactly what hardware your laptop has.

These are the MINIMUM requirements-

3.0GHz Intel or AMD Processor

512MB nVidia GeForce or ATI Radeon series dedicated video card

Windows 7 32-bit (eCabinet Systems recommends Windows 10 Professional 64-bit)

Note: Windows 2000, Windows 95, 98, Me, and NT 4 are NOT supported.

2GB with Windows 7 32-bit, 4GB with Windows 7 64-bit

XGA (1024X768) 17" Monitor

Internet Connection (either modem or broadband)

Two-button mouse w/Scroll

Looking at the Dell site, I'd say your system can run the software although the smaller screen size will make it a little cumbersome to manipulate drawings. Also, I'd add an external USB mouse. Touch pads are a pain with drawing programs.

I don't know much about laptops. My concern was not being able  upgrade....I'm sitting at dialysis for 12 hours a week. I thought it would be good time used getting to know the program again...

I don't think you will need to do any internal upgrades to the laptop. But I would add an external USB mouse. It will make maneuvers much easier and more precise.

Something like this one- https://www.staples.com/Microsoft-Wireless-Mobile-Mouse-1850-USB-Wireless-Mouse-Black-U7Z-00001/product_159219

It's for sale on Odessa marketplace for $125. I've got a Dell n5050 here at he house but got dropped and can't tell if it's got internal damage. I've been trying to use the vga and trying to bypass the laptop screen so I can see what's going on internally...

I figure if he's got the software with it, it should be okay. Says he needs money. Odessa isn't a big town...

It will be on when I buy it..
