Only Formica I ever had issue with was some service desk from work. Peeled off badly even before I got them. Guess was cheap glue. You don't have another 15 cabinet shop guys drilling, chiseling, or hammering on your tables... Remember its abuse x 15

April 3, 20206 yr I had the PB on the work bench about 15 years. I re pl laced it with the hickory top because I got it for free, not because it was failing. I like how it creates a Rembrandt without work. Every wood top tells a story....

And, the stories it tells are not for virgin ears.
April 3, 20206 yr Laminate looks good, no dought. Its nice on router tables, drill presses and it's a favorite when trying to make a shop home. So dont get me wrong , I've used it. Now adays I'm poor and have to be very strategic on how I use my laminates and veneers. Some have been hidden so long there probably transparent by now...... Edited April 3, 20206 yr by BillyJack
April 3, 20206 yr I do have tempered 1/4" hardboard on my workbench. I attached an oak trim around the bench, extending 1/4"above the bench surface, then laid the hardboard in. Then attached the hardboard with a screw at each corner. I've replaced it once. It has worked well for my purposes.
