February 14, 20206 yr Popular Post Happy Valentine’s Day!!! I hope all of you have special plans for this special day. This has been basically a clean up week for me but I did manage to build a pair of flag cases. The large cherry case holds a flag that flew over the Capitol Building last July 4th. The smaller one I donated for an auction at a Lincoln Day dinner. It will hold a smaller flag that flew over the U. S. S. Arizona. So, Patriot Woodworkers, what’s on your weekend agenda?
February 14, 20206 yr Beautiful flag cases, Ron! What an honor to have your work hold those special flags. I'm gathering up the parts needed to make a rotary tool similar to the one mentioned in this week's "Wednesday's...".
February 14, 20206 yr Popular Post Beautiful flag cases--- I have made them over the years---many for families of friends and relatives. I must be sure to keep one for my own going away party. Who knows???
February 14, 20206 yr Beautiful flag cases!!! Been working on friends house making a custom doorway and door. Had a low ceiling to deal with. Probably be done this weekend.
February 14, 20206 yr Nice flag cases Ron. With the weather we currently have I might build an Igloo.

February 14, 20206 yr I do like those flag cases, and like Lew said it's quite an honor to have those flags in them. I'm finishing up a second (and I hope last) desk. This one is in cherry much like an oak one I built a few months back. If I can get the assembly completed this weekend, it will be finishing week next week.
February 14, 20206 yr Cases look great. Plans for the weekend? Watching shellac dry...and do as little as I can get away with.....even less, IF they let me......
February 15, 20206 yr I will add my admiration for the flag cases. Finished the box yesterday and delivered today . Helped a turning club member fix a broken tenon on a beautiful curly maple platter today. Our club meeting tomorrow canceled due to near record flood conditions so will be in the shop continuing work on a prototype executive top.
February 15, 20206 yr Will start 4 ballistor post tops this weekend. Going to turn from fir and not sure how it turns but will post a picture later. Really nice job on those flag boxes. I need to make a couple for veterans in our family.
February 15, 20206 yr Popular Post Beautiful job on the flag cases, Ron. we've been prepping for our move to southern AZ. Sold some Walnut yesterday. Less to move. Might have sold one Polaris Ranger with the 3 point hitch and all the attachments plus the tow behind DR mower. Still have another one to sell. We’re getting a list of furniture to put on Craigslist. We’ve been looking at online listings for homes in the Tucson area. Told a couple realtors what we want, namely a large shop building with a house close by.Might end up having to build the shop. Moving my shop is going to be a huge, multi day (weeks?) project. I can't think of one tool I'd want to be without. The $$ we'd realize wouldn't be worth the heart ache of losing them. Well, there are those framing squares.... As to next week, general sprucing up in the house, touch up painting, and the like. More packing, sorting and dump runs. Why on earth did we keep all those dead and out dated electronic devices? Edited February 15, 20206 yr by Gene Howe
February 15, 20206 yr and don't forget your box that looks like this: (PS, these are headed for the Restore)

February 15, 20206 yr Popular Post I'm not planning on moving yet, but am cleaning out stuff and wondering why we saved it. I just drag the 90 gallon garbage can near and start tossing. Don't tell her as she will want to keep this and that.

The woman's husband was into A/V stuff and it shows.
