January 2, 20206 yr Popular Post Watch out for those sirens behind you, that was the bargain of the year.
January 2, 20206 yr Author It has a 110 plug on it but it's a 220 sander I believe....plug looks spliced on the motor....
January 2, 20206 yr Author Popular Post I guess when the sander plug got bad they changed it with a 110 plug and sander started running funny. The other sander a JET had a 110 plug so they made them the same .Owner said it didn't run as good as the JET. I guess not only running on one leg... Guess I need to change the plug. Pays to check the plate before you plug it in.... Edited January 2, 20206 yr by BillyJack
January 2, 20206 yr Popular Post My two cents would be to try and get a look at the plate on the motor to verify voltage.
January 2, 20206 yr Author He varified he put the wrong plug end on. He's not an electricIan and just put one on..
January 2, 20206 yr Popular Post Yeah I have fixed alot of stuff like that over the years. And I am not a electrician. But I have stayed at a Holiday inn Express few weeks back.

January 3, 20206 yr Author Popular Post I talked to the guy that changed the plug it was a 220 plug changed to a 110. The guy said he didn't think it mattered. He wondered why it didn't run correctly after he changed it... I personally know the guy. He's book smart , not electrically smart. Why I looked at the plate and the plug. I notice when I opened the cabinet the wire had been cut and a new cord and plug had been installed... We are good to go with the correct plug...
January 3, 20206 yr Author Any suggestions on cleaning the metal on the sander. I think I used mineral spirits o the pkaner. Not sure if there is a better way. It's got that oily look on it that needs to be cleaned off...
January 3, 20206 yr It doesn't look that bad to me, maybe just a squirt of WD40 and an abrasive pad (think Scotchbrite) should get it. But I've seen a friend run an ROS on the tables (a jointer, in this case) with 220 and it made the cast iron shine like new.
January 3, 20206 yr Author Popular Post I hate working with dirty and dingy tools. Guess that's why I stopped looking in the mirror in the morning...it's not as depressing. .?
