It has a 110 plug on it but it's a 220 sander I believe....plug looks spliced on the motor....

I guess when the sander plug got bad they changed it with a 110 plug and sander started running funny. The other sander a JET  had a 110 plug so they made them the same .Owner said it didn't run as good as the JET. I guess not only running on one leg...

Guess I need to change the plug. Pays to check the plate before you plug it in....

My two cents would be to try and get a look at the plate on the motor to verify voltage.

Have to agree with Artie, nameplate on used equipment doesn't mean that the motor hasn't been changed.

I talked to the guy that changed the plug it was a 220 plug changed to a 110. Àqq

Plug was changed with the WRONG plug. The guy said he didn't think it mattered. He wondered why it didn't run correctly after he changed it...

I personally know the guy. He's book smart , not electrically smart.

Why I looked at the plate and the plug. I notice when I opened the cabinet the wire had been cut and a new cord and plug had been installed...

We are good to go with the correct plug...

Any suggestions on cleaning the metal on the sander. I think I used mineral spirits o the pkaner. Not sure if there is a better way. It's got that oily look on it that needs to be cleaned off...

It doesn't look that bad to me, maybe just a squirt of WD40 and an abrasive pad (think Scotchbrite) should get it. But I've seen a friend run an ROS on the tables (a jointer, in this case) with 220 and it made the cast iron shine like new.

I  hate working with dirty and dingy tools.  Guess that's why I stopped looking in the mirror in the morning...it's not as depressing. .?

I have done same. Works well. Then I put wax on it and good for awhile.
