Adopt a Wounded Warrior Family for Christmas project was a great success! Thanks to you all, we raised over our goal and our adopted family is going to be busy Christmas morning! All the gifts have arrived, and I am sure mama is shopping for the Christmas dinner by now. You should all give yourselves a great huge pat on the back, and I personally want to thank each and everyone of you for your support, you went above and beyond. Thank you!

Lasered a bunch of gift tags that double as personalized key fobs. Some mesquite and, some leather. Sorry, didn't get pictures.

Today, we pack for the trip to Tucson. 5 dozen cookies, 2 lb of fudge and, a herd of grandma's home made turtles. Not to mention a trunk full of gifts, plus one dog. She's small. Hope to have room for 4 days of clothes.

HAve an elm bowl on the lathe that needs sanded and the bottom finished. It has a natural edge so that means typical reverse chucking won't work. Have to make a friction chuck, maybe.

 Celebrated Christmas Saturday, everyone back home and safe by Sunday night, good time had by all. Enjoying the peace and quiet of the morning. The cat survived.

Going to see the doc.  Been fighting a cold since Thanksgiving.  I'm throwing in the towel.  Must be upper respiratory infection.  One of those gets better, gets worse, gets better again things.

Continued clean up of the “exhaust and aftermath” of turning 81 odd little snow creatures with a temporary turning setup, fixing brakes on mamas minivan, investigating dust collector upgrades with some folding money from aforementioned ,  doing some lathe maintenance (new vs belt), and spending some time with all of the kids who have made it home for Christmas break.  Dust collection has not existed in my shop but the  project while wearing a dust respirator for days on end has finally pushed me to do something better.  

Busy as usual but shop time will take a back seat to family for a few days.  Threw in a quick shot of my current mess for fun.

Finishing up wine glasses this evening. Will have pics then. Cut all the stems already just have to epoxy them in.

If only!   I shovelled three 55 gallon drums of chips yesterday!  Pieces of tree just get bigger when you “fluff” them!

Doctor gave me some once- very powerful ones- didn't want to venture far from the outhouse!

Worked on some fingers over the weekend...

And also sharpened a few chisels...

Ends were getting rounded over a bit,  ground back to 25 degrees, honed to 2500 grit, and then stropped...

Narex 6mm mortise chisel.....

Shop was closed today.   May be open back up after Christmas is over with....

Got them all done.  Came out better than I expected.

Got a peppermill ready for my DIL on red and blue but the Tru Oil made the blue look black. I have had the blank for a year and finally go to using it. 

      Today trying to drill a flex mic holder it got away from me and cut three fingers . That was scary.

Looks good, I am thinking I would like to make same.  Did you use a kit?  Do you drill the hole 1st or after you get done turning the outside?

Gunny this may be long so I will put the how in the turning forum.

Lew it took a hunk out of one finger and hope it heals back so no notch in it. Didn't tell the wife about that . Bleed like a stuck pig and she did the bandage as the band aids didn't stop it.
