November 18, 20196 yr Did a little cleaning and organizing over the weekend. Been working on Christmas items and will continue this week.
November 18, 20196 yr Didn't get one thing done toward woodworking. Finished moving the dirt around by the new concrete driveway, planted some flowering bulbs, worked on my chain saw. Needs a new chain - old one stretched too far. Got one bathroom cleaned. Some laundry. Today, I get to pick up a headstone for my sister in law. It's 150 pounds and I am going to recruit some help. And, stole some border stones from next door. They were tossing them, so I gave them the old disposal discount. The house next door is being refurbished. Guess I need to get my paint spruced some. Geez, I am getting tired just writing this.
November 19, 20196 yr I'm glad somebody has some energy to do things! Like Larry said, I got tired just reading it!!!

November 19, 20196 yr Popular Post Finalizing my plan for the two doors I need for this closet on my deck.

Took advantage of decent weather and moved on to my carport upgrades and finished them out. Then of course the cold weather showed up so the cat house / saw horse project got done next. In the meantime I had 5 or 6 designs for these doors. Finally chose to go with same design as the building just no windows. Fancy is nice but it needed to match everything else as well. Those two worlds collided.
November 19, 20196 yr So sorry, Gunny. Just had it in my head that this whole project was completed, but I can't remember the doors now. Can't wait to see it completed. Nice weather for this kind of project.
November 19, 20196 yr Popular Post Phyl and I just got home from Il about an hour ago. Drove from OKC to Snowflake today. 13 hrs. Phyl and I have a few things to take care of tomorrow...grocery shopping and pick the dog up at the kennel so, Wednesday we can unload and sticker the load of walnut, cherry and maple we picked up from her brother, Dave. Don't know how many bf we got but, the boards are all 6' long and, we stacked them solid between the wheel wells and as high as the bed rails. plus, we stuck some shorts on edge in the dead spaces. The old 250 didn't even know it had a load. And, the walnut is pretty wet, yet. Measured the MC @ 16% the day we loaded it. The other stuff was dry. I'm guessing one Arizona summer in a steel shed should do the trick for the walnut. It's all 5/4. He had some 8/4 slabs but, I left them there. Dave was ecstatic with the mesquite, palo verde and red pistachio we brought him. It was a great trip but, we're REALLY glad to be able to sleep in our own bed tonight.
November 19, 20196 yr Gene, it's great to know you and Phyl are home safe and sound. Glad you got some prize lumber. Sounds as if you really scored. Hope to see pix.

November 19, 20196 yr Popular Post 13 hours in one session. There was a time I could do that, but no longer. You have really great fortitude (or something). Glad you got home safe....but I'm still jealous of all the wood that went both ways!

November 19, 20196 yr Over the weekend I was able to recruit a little help and got the base cabinets in place and locked down. Yesterday I contacted a couple of countertop places and waiting on the "rough estimates" before pulling the trigger on that. Still have to move the kitchen island back into place - it is a heavy piece and I will spend some time today measuring ten times and moving once! That is if the help shows up... Have ordered some chair rail that I plan to install - on the ceiling! That should be in this week and get me to the point of putting flooring down next week maybe?

Glad you got home safe....but I'm still jealous of all the wood that went both ways! Fred, we planned to stop about 200 miles from home and, make it an easy drive the following day...today. But, the closer we got the more anxious we became to get home. With two drivers and 3 to 4 hour shifts each, it wasn't bad at all. We sure get tired of motels and restaurant food and that was another impetus to get home. Plus, we missed our dog!.
November 21, 20196 yr Well I got started on this today. Managed to get both frames build for the doors. BUT, ran out of 2x4's so I will finish the cross bracing tomorrow and maybe get them skinned up. Milled down 2x4's to get started. I don't want the door thickness to be greater than 1 3/4 inch so I milled the 2x4's down to 1 1/4 inch. Found some 1/4 plywood at the borg that will do the trick inside and out. Naturally they had 3 out where I could get them, the others were banded and way at the top. Finding someone to get that down, yeah right. Will get the other one from a different store. Minor problem. Had the two frames on my new sawhorses but it was time to call it a night. Brought them in and remembered hey I need a picture.
