October 11, 20196 yr Popular Post Finally some cool weather and some shop time this week. I have been working most of the week on the CNC machine, but I did get another set of cutting boards ready for the next glue up today. I found a guy that had a 3D set of grips available for download and they are very nice models. For the moment I’ve lost his name and link, but I’ll go back through my history and find it to give him credit. I cut one plain set from walnut to try them out and check sizing. I did have to open up the screw hole just a bit but it was close. The other sets ive made this week are still in the blank so I can flip them and made a cut on the back. Figured I’d run several sets before I flipped them so I could do them all at once. So so here is a set from Walnut with an American flag. I did the flag for this set. Bloodwood with checkering. Maple set with checkering. Two sets of Bloodwood with dots. Bloodwood with texturing. Here is a picture of them all. I’ve created several more options that I just need to run. Tomorrow I'm headed to Birmingham to shoot in an IDPA match with a friend. That’s pretty much my weekend. What’s on your agenda? Really love to see and hear about your projects and agenda. what ever you do, have fun and be safe.
October 11, 20196 yr You're not joking about cool weather John, I just saw on the news we might get down to freezing tonight! I keep looking at the workbench topic trying to figure out what elements of different benches I can use to make a couple of movable machine benches that will fit over the wheel wells in my trailer shop. Keith just posted a few that are adjustable height, and those really have me scratching my head. I'm literally trying to fit ten pounds into a five pound bag, and it would be kind of nice to be able to adjust the working height of the machines....back to thinking about it.
October 11, 20196 yr Popular Post New tire is on the van...no longer waddles down the street like a goose. Might get a start on a DVD Cabinet over the weekend...now that the bench is almost cleaned off.. May need a new lower shelf Stay tuned
October 12, 20196 yr Tomorrow morning going to "Artistry in Wood." It's a great show, mostly carvers, some turners, and some woodworkers from all over US displaying their work. Really top-notch stuff. Sadly, after 38 years, this is the final show that will happen. Between Cincinnati and Columbus just off I-71 https://www.daytoncarvers.com/artistryinwood.html
October 12, 20196 yr Still busy cleaning the shop from 6 months of projects. Good news is I have completely cleaned off the bench that has both lathes on it. Finally I can get ready for some serious turning this winter. With the upgraded lights, shop heat, and DC I am thinking it will be a productive winter.
October 12, 20196 yr Working on stock for Christmas . Today it was sanding some dry pecan bowls and more of the sane tomorrow.
October 12, 20196 yr Still working on kitchen cabinets here. Hope to get the drawer faces and door finished up this weekend for the last base cabinet. Then it will be on to the upper cabinets and paint on the lowers. Yes, I have been working on them a long time... got to watch Georgia play today also... priorities... @John Moody those are great looking grips. Can you design a grip for a different gun than the (1911?) you've shown above? My neighbor asked me just the other day where he could get a set of grips made for an old pistol he has. October 12, 20196 yr Popular Post For the first time in a very long time, I got some serious shop time in yesterday. It was a great day, I'm working on a new desk for the basement computer built in a A&C style. I spent a lot of time re-learning how to make many mistakes and the use of some tools. I also (now) remember that when you are doing test cuts, you don't use the actual parts to your project...so I made a few new parts as well.

I’ll see what I can do or find out there.
October 13, 20196 yr Went to move toolbox to clean out behind it. Found that I had never finished coming around the corner with DryLock concrete sealer when I did the opposite wall few years ago for another upgrade to water pipes. SO, cleaned it all last night and let dry. Ready for 1st coat this afternoon. CBU sucks to paint!! To the far right you can see where I had previously painted.
