Well it’s been a crazy couple of weeks. I started coughing a couple of weeks back and thought it to just be allergies at first then it kept on so I thought it was a cold and I went to the doc-n-a box and was told I had a sinus infection. Well two days later and a lot more coughing and I had an appointment with my regular Dr for a regular checkup. He walks in and hears me coughing and says I have Whooping cough. He said his wife had it and he had been listening to that cough for weeks. So he puts me on more meds and some strong cough syrup and I was either coughing or sleeping. Anyway I seem to be much better, only an occasional cough not the long multiple cough. So I got out in the shop last night and finished up a couple of things that have been waiting on me.

I did this shadow box for a friend who wants to display an antique Winchester. He’s also a Florida Gator fan so he wanted the background to be blue. I couldn’t find Florida Blue so this is as close as it gets.

No door and the hooks just came in today so I’ll get them installed tomorrow. It just an open shadow box.

This weekend they are having Dragon boat races here in town. Teams have been arriving since the middle of the week. I had a team at the shooting range today just having some fun and waiting for the competition to began. So I was ask to take the Dragon and make a base for it, just keep it simple.

So so I had this nice piece of Quartersawn White Oak that I thought would look really nice. The rays in the Oak almost looked like waves in the water. Just sprayed a clear finish and sealed the bark with some Acrylic. I thought it looked good and I kept it simple.

Tomorrow I have a digital duplicator coming for my CNC. Going to spend some time with it and try to get some cutting boards cut out.

What’s on your agenda this weekend. I love to hear about and see all you weekend projects.

I had a Birthday Present arrive today!  @Jim from Easy Wood Tools got me set up with the right tools for what I use a lathe for.  Sweet deal I am very pleased.  Even got a Tee shirt which was quickly taken by my wife.  Anyone on the fence about dealing with them, I rarely get that level of service anywhere. If I had not been at work I might have chatted with Jim till time to go home.

Okay so I had to pay for it, it's like a present to myself.  :JawDrop:

Life has been determined to keep me out of the shop the past many months, but I actually went in and did some woodworking yesterday. Just a tiny project, but it's been sitting waiting for completion for quite a while. It's a display board for the national parks quarters. I built one of the Wood magazine displays with a scrollsawn map of the US for the State's quarters, but had to design my own for the ones they added covering the 6 territories and DC. So it's not much, but at lest I'm doing something.

Hey John, it is good to see you up and posting again.  Hope you continue to improve on the cough, be hard to cheer on 'Bama when you got to cough every time you take a breath...  Both the rifle case and dragon base are great projects.

Gunny, looks like you might do some turning in the near future, it will be interesting to see what direction you go.  Surely you have already made plans?

Pics Fred, we need pics!  Sounds like a nice project.  Is it for you, or?

As for me, I continue plodding along with this remodel project.  Every now and again I can point to something and show that progress is actually being made:)  This week for example.  I got a new lockset and installed it on the back door.  The door had been without any type of lock or knob for about six months:BugEyeSmiley:

Since getting back from Ohio I have been painting.  I did make a window casing for the kitchen, that did get me in the shop for a bit.  Most of the time though has been spent painting.  I have three doors and related trim to paint today, which I can do while watching/listening to the Georgia game today.  Go Dawgs!  I can see about another week before I get back to the shop to "hopefully" finish up the kitchen cabinets...

Spent Friday avoiding black cats and walking under ladders:D I also dug out a few boards from storage to start an upcoming commissioned job. Two... different/ unique chairs for one of my oldest clients. Got them rough cut, stacked, and sticked then spent my last bit of daylight touching up a couple backsaws and cleaning up. Tomorrow (Sunday) will be spent sharpening and doing machine maintenance.

We do have a spare handy.....for some reason, I just could not set the plane down....paid the $5, and headed for the van...

Plane is a Stanley No. 3, Type 11.....the only "bad" spot was the lever cap....rest was dirty, but almost like new under the crud...

Might be worth the five bucks?

So, hopefully, tomorrow, I can get this little plane all spiffyfied up, and sharp....stay tuned...
