Date this plane

Featured Replies

Saw this plane on Facebook. Lady asking anything about it. I see Stanley bought  Bailey's patents and machinery in 1869 and then used them and that is why Stanley planes are Bailey . So thinking this is before 1869 ??

Edit : Opps did not  do enough research . It is a G-3 Gage Patent plane. Patent date 1885. When Stanley bought the company in 1919 and produced this plane from 1920 till 1920. Mystery solved but it does not make sense . I have never seen one of these , has anyone ?

Not me, but it would be cool to have that sitting around as a conversation piece. I'd hate to see Newman get one...he'd actually use it!

Well, some planes just need a cleaning, and a simple green wipe down, yours would be a great candidate for a complete restore.

Also illegal to do according to the State of California.  How do you guys survive walking around all the time in hazmat suits??

I cleaned up the blade, chip breaker, and adjustment parts then put her to work.

It survived being submerged in a flooded warehouse basement.
