Popular Post Pauley Posted July 4, 2019 Popular Post Report Posted July 4, 2019 I made this “Cascade of Leaves” bowl from Sapalee. It measures about 11 inches across and has carved leaves all around. It’s finished with two coats of walnut oil and three coats of a satin polyurethane. It took me over 6 hours to carve this... Artie, lew, John Morris and 4 others 7 Quote
John Morris Posted July 4, 2019 Report Posted July 4, 2019 Pauley, that is very creative, did you turn the main bowl first then carve the leaves into it or is the entire bowl carved out? Thanks for sharing! Cal, FlGatorwood and Gunny 3 Quote
Popular Post Pauley Posted July 4, 2019 Author Popular Post Report Posted July 4, 2019 Yes, I turned the outside of the bowl first. I left it on the chuck, but removed it from the lathe for the carving. Then I put it back on the lathe and hollowed it out. I took it off the lathe again and did some fine tuning on the carving. Hand sanded for quite a while. I wanted to try and do something like this because I have not seen this done before...so I gave it a shot. p_toad, Al B, Gunny and 3 others 6 Quote

John Morris Posted July 4, 2019 Report Posted July 4, 2019 Pauley I am assuming there is a light at the bottom of the bowl, to light up the flowers? Gunny, FlGatorwood and Cal 3 Quote

The cord is for the turn table the bowl,is sitting on. I only use an iPad and when I tried to upload a video, I got a message saying it’s in the wrong format. So I just uploaded the photo.
