June 22, 20197 yr Yep, it’s Friday and I’m way behind. Been a crazy week. My wife had a stomach bug from last Tuesday till Saturday. I thought I had dodged it but I was wrong and it got me this week. Been down most of the week but got back to the shop today. I guess it it was just in time cause I’ve had customers in and out all day and I just came in from the shop. Last week i did this Ford piece for a customer that is using it in an old truck restoration. The first one had recessed letters that is going to pour with Blue Epoxy. Next he wanted one with raised letters and he is going to pour the recess with Blue Epoxy. So I finished it this morning. I had a customer by this morning to get a cutting board and saw it and asked if I could do another one while I had it loaded in the CNC so they could give it as a gift this weekend. So I ran another one. A neighbor came down down with this base to an antique table that had busted and wanted to know if we could make another base for him. It was laminated with two pieces and the weight caused it to give way at the joint. Josh and I had to unstack some white oak to get to a 2” slab I had and of course it was on the bottom. Got it planned down the the correct thickness, made a template and cut out a new base from a solid piece of White Oak. This should stand up to up to many years to come for this table. He is going to stain it and drill all the holes so all I had to do was get it to this. All in all all it has been a good day and we got several things done. Tomorrow is a shooting day in a GSSF match at the range. I’ll also be doing the scoring for everyone else. What’s on your agenda this weekend? I love to see and hear about all of your projects. Whatever you do, have fun and be safe.
June 22, 20197 yr Love the signs, John! Hope to get a little turning done but the weather is so nice, I hate to be inside.
June 22, 20197 yr Those signs are something else. Never thought of doing in negative aand positive. Any chance you can get pics after epoxy? Well I jumped into it this week and got hearing aids. Ooch! Got the final ok on the offering plates with oil stain , shellac and wax. Going to the tree what I hope will be the last time tomorrow and supposed to be 91 .

My biggest problem is having to learn to listen all over again. I went so long without aids that I just started to ignore any conversation around me. Now, when someone speaks to me, I don't seem to catch the first few words but as soon as they repeat what they said, I realize I had had heard them. The other thing is trying to pick out conversation in a noisy environment. Everything jumbles together. It s super helpful if someone speaks your name before they start the conversation and that they face you when they speak.

I’m looking forward to seeing how it looks.
June 22, 20197 yr Still doing small prep work details on deck build. Rain has been cooperative so far this week.
June 22, 20197 yr Popular Post We are trying to dry out around here....County was about washed away.... They had to add "dikes" in front of the ER's doors....had 3' outside of this door.... Downtown bellefontaine....this is South main St. just to the right of this spot.. Is Spring Street.... And, where a creek was normally 8' lower than the roadway called Ludlow... This "dry spot" is a culvert style bridge....water was going OVER the bridge... tried to go to DeGraff, OH...wasn't too bad here..but, on the other side of that hill... about 1/2 the culvert was washed out....turned south to get around... can't get there, from here....Town north of Bellefontaine, called Huntsville, OH... Also had water problems....and, up at Indian Lake, where the Great Miami River starts...there is a deep spillway,,,usually 10 below the roadway.... Almost to the top of the bridge.... had a few trickles running through the shop...I AM on a hill, after all...CSX crossing on Columbus Ave...was UNDER water... Have a full rain free day, today....things are starting to dry up....all this rain came down in less than one hour....3.75" in just 5 minutes time, BTW...

Wow - guess we got out of Ohio just in time! Was up there last weekend for a great visit with our son and his girlfriend. There were some overnight rains, but overall the weather cooperated with us on the visit. I did notice quite a bit of land that appeared to not have a crop planted (yet). I would think that it is about too late to even plant if it did dry out now...
June 22, 20197 yr We spent the week in Fredericksburg, Virginia visiting old friends, visiting Civil War battle sites and doing a bit of genealogical research. Home today (Saturday), worship tomorrow and back to the grind.
June 22, 20197 yr Popular Post Son and family are visting. son wants to build a picture frame. Brought his own lumber....some well used 2x4s.Two grand kids will stay for a week. Might get some mesquite resawed, between trail rides with the kids.
June 22, 20197 yr Cutting grass in between monsoons. Making a few inside out ornaments. None have finish on yet.
June 23, 20197 yr Steven look like you may be water locked. @Cal There are parts of about 3 counties in MS have been under water for over 4 months. Been a fun year.
June 23, 20197 yr Popular Post Made my first normal picture frame yesterday. Normal, as in 45° corners. It's ID 24" x 14" . Son bought a beach scene from a street painter in San Diego last week. He brought up some very weathered 2x4s so, we used them. The frame pieces are about 1 1/4" square after ripping and planing. We left the weathered surface on the faces and out side edges. But, the raw fir shows on the inside edges. He thinks he'll burn it all over and might try soshugi ban when he gets it home. He'll pin nail the corners. What ever floats his boat. It's his frame. Tomorrow, Phyl, the two grandkids and I start prepping the front decks for it's renewal coat of oil. This will be only its 2nd renewal in 12 years. Sikkens is great stuff. Hope to have it done by Tuesday. Wednesday, we'll take the kids to an even more remote cabin up in the mountains for three days. Do some trail riding, Elk spotting, maybe some fishing. Won't get back in the shop til friday...maybe. Then Saturday, we'll meet the kids' parents half way between here and Tucson to give them back their offspring. It'll be Sunday before I can really get back at it...if I can remember where I left off.
