Here we are on the last day of May and it isn’t raining in Indiana.......yet.  We have been deluged with rain for the past 6 weeks and the farmers here are in panic mode.  I have a good friend that farms 3,000 acres and he has zero crops in the ground.  

This has been an interesting week.  Sunday was race day and all weather forecasters predicted a rain shortened race.  They were wrong.  In fact, they got the whole race in.  I’ve finished and installed a cabinet this week and today I’ve spent the whole day building a prototype keepsake box for a customer that wants 15 boxes built as a memorial to her 3 month old grandson who died suddenly.  I found a piece of buried walnut to make the top from.  My oldest granddaughter graduates high school Sunday so this weekend is chock full of graduation festivities.  So, what’s on your Patriot Woodworker Weekend Agenda?

 

 

 

 

My heart goes out to that family, Ron. Losing a child has to be the toughest thing in the world. Your efforts will ease their pain, hopefully. 

 

About to finish up the BB whiskey box prototype. Sure glad I spent the time. Working out the bugs in preparation for a run of multiples. Better to find the flaws now than later. And, there were a few, too. Foresight is not my strong suit.

We have work to do....made by Disston, for use in a Goodell Pratt Co.  Mitre Box

Has a Disston etch on the spine, has a "GOODELL PRATT COMPANY,   Toolsmiths,   GREENFIELD MA. USA"  etch on the now cleaned plate.

5" under the spine, 28" length.  11ppi.  Handle either needs repaired, or replaced...

$1 at a garage sale this morning...

 

Have 3 reloader jigs to do...including a reworking of the "old" one, to match the 2 new jigs.  IF I can find enough room on the bench..

After almost two weeks of installing drywall, I think I'll do absolutely NOTHING! Well, except for ten hours working at the garden center.

Two things I despise....Drywall and painting.  

Ron, great project you are involved in, with terrific meaning, good luck on that sir.

I'll be tooling around in the old shop trying to organize and improve my shop storage situation. I was neck deep into my rocking chair build but hit a slow period, I am waiting for the weave material for the seat to come in then I can get back on it. I did however fit the pillow rail to the top of the chair, I'll get some images up in my Shaker Rocker topic.

So this weekend, I am actually going to take it easy, and enjoy making a few things for the shop. I just posted this Saw Till, I love it. Built it in a few hours and just hung it up today.

Finally finished the large L shaped Cedar Green Egg monster table. My two sons have been working on this to finish up this week. Yesterday afternoon it got delivered and set in place. 

 

 

Im very proud of them on this one. They did the work and I was just the advisor giving help and advice when they weren’t sure about doing something. 

 

 

 

It it has been fun seeing them enjoying what I have been doing for many years. 

 

They even got the water hooked up to the kitchen sink and the drain line. 

 

 

 

This is was the biggest one we’ve built so far. 

 

 

That's a real beauty, John. Your boys deserve a bunch of attaboys. And, you deserve to be proud.

Looks ready to be an inside kitchen. Amazing job. Never could understand why people want a outdoor kitchen at home, maybe at a camp. I just like simple outdoor cooking.

Weber and us have forged a lasting relationship. But, I do admire all those green egg tables. This latest iteration takes the cake. Gorgeous work!

Awesome work!!!  Like Gene I have a relationship with Weber and charcoal, I stick to what I know....  

Finished up 3 little deck tables to replace the ones that finally fell apart from old age

 

Basic Sketchup drawing. Roughly 16" x 16" x 16".  Eastern cedar. Got everything out of two 16' 2 x 6's with only about a foot to spare. At $2.75 bdft hope these last a while.  Got all the deck furniture painted before the rain returned.

Time on project?  about 20 minutes

Longevity of material?  Who cares they have more.

Hanging drywall has to be one of the worst jobs, next to roofing on a hot day. 

Still working on daughters curio cabient from wood.
