When I started my apprenticeship at the Navy base, I worked with 4 of the men who served in those battles.  One of them had a metal plate in his head.  They didn't talk much about it.  One of them mentioned a couple of places in France.  But, if you want to really see stuff about that war, you should get a series of "The World at War".  The cruelty is amazing.

The World at War, and World War Two in Color, both excellent.

My nephew, a retired Marine Aviator (Lt. Col.) just finished flying a restored Pan Am DC-3 over to Heathrow to work in the anniversary celebrations.  Note the range of the plane that jumped over there.

Congrats and thank you to your nephew. The plane is simply magnificent.

If I remember correctly, in Band of Brothers, there is a scene where the squad efficiently takes out a German machine gun emplacement.  That was so realistic that West Point used it as a how-to teaching video.  Can anyone confirm this?

The story I recall was the BoB taking out an artillery placement of at least 2 cannons firing down on the beaches.

OK.  Maybe that was it.  Thanks.
