Herb if you post any more boring pics I will just go out of my mind with envy. Don't know how you turn this stuff our so fast. Keep the  ideas flowing and the boring pics too.

Thanks for this posts and some beautiful work.  It got me motivated so I broke out a hand plane tonight and stayed at it trying to get some worthwhile results.  After some time I was successful in squaring up a piece of scrap 2x4.  Might have to look into getting ahold of a better plane.  Now how I am going to pay for some of the ones I saw is a whole other problem.

THe secret of a hand plane is a razor sharp blade. Sharpen it like a mirror and you will love it.

Here is the plane I started yesterday and completed today. The 1st pic is the mock-up I did over the week end, the 2,3,4th, pics are the new one. I moved the opening back toward the handle an inch, and lowered the medallion on this one.

I tried it out,Gerald and it work pretty good once I got the blade set correctly, it doesn't like knots though. LOL

I think it works better than the proto type by moving the cutter back an inch.

Moving the plane iron back was a brilliant touch.
