Popular Post Dadio Posted January 19, 2019 Popular Post Report Posted January 19, 2019 I know that Radial Arm saws are not in favor these days , but what can I say I cut my teeth on these saws and have my old Craftsman set up for cross cutting. I use it for just that purpose, no angles or ripping. The saw is known for making lots of saw dust and it piles up in the most inconvenient place, behind the saw. I rigged up a dust collection box behind the blade that the blade is buried in when not in use. The dust collector 6" duct is attached to the top of the box, the front of the box is the fence. Then I made a ZC insert for the blade that slides in and out of the table to the front with a dado under where the saw blade cuts that extends back to the DC box. This system works 98% to remove the saw dust, and the ZC is replaceable. Herb LarryS, Cal, HARO50 and 8 others 11 Quote

HandyDan Posted January 20, 2019 Report Posted January 20, 2019 Best idea I've ever seen for a radial saw. Quote
Popular Post Grandpadave52 Posted January 20, 2019 Popular Post Report Posted January 20, 2019 Well, another one I thought I had hit submit but guess not...IDK. I like the set-up especially your ZC insert design. On my ever growing list of things to do. Your's will be the model. BTW, your RAS isn't old...new compared to my two. Dadio Posted January 20, 2019 Author Report Posted January 20, 2019 (edited) What prompted the post was the discussion on the table insert for the DP tables mentioned on another thread. Herb Edited January 20, 2019 by Dadio Cal, HARO50 and Grandpadave52 1 2 Quote

Kevin Beitz Posted October 11, 2019 Report Posted October 11, 2019 Great idea.... I got two radial saws and a third extra head. I would say it's one of my most used tools in my shop. Cal and Gunny 2 Quote
kenshelden Posted June 25, 2020 Report Posted June 25, 2020 Why is the hose connection for chip exit at the "top" of the box?? Any reason not to put it on the bottom and connect a hose from the guard to the top? Quote
