Little idea

SO not much but I have always had a problem with my A/c return. When they built my house in early 80's the air return was put in the hallway on the floor. Not the best place especially considering I have dogs (usually ones that shed a lot) and the hallway is of course the most traveled place in the house. So I was struggling always trying to change out filters and keep it clean from dog hair. So this was what i came up with. I know not a huge woodworking project but maybe it will help out others with the same problem. My brother okayed it and was happy with the idea and he is an A/C guy and teaches at the local college. It just sits over the original intake cover and catches the dog hair before it reaches the return. I could vacuum and sweep everyday but would still not keep the little furries from getting in there. hopefully this will help. It is actually nicer looking as well cosmetically.

Great to have you back among us Lissa. Hope things have finally quieted down and maybe dried out some for you. Tough year for sure.

Great idea and job on the vent. Looks great! A lot of hassle at times with the dogs (& cats here too), but worth it. Life just isn't complete or full without pets IMO.

Wishing you a much better 2019. Stop in often...you don't need projects going to hang out.:P

Welcome MaDeuce!!!!!

Hi Lissa! Nice to meet you lol I have two long hair dogs, a short hair dog and a cat. I could sweep twice a day and there would still be hair everywhere :Laughing:So I feel your pain.

did the vent thing and broke down and got one of those robot vacuums... verdict is still out on robot but vent seems to be doing well. so hopefully between the tow i quit getting gently chewed out by my brother lol

A lot of our fur ends up trapped behind doors or on the stairs. So unfortunately, unless the robot learns to climb stairs and/or open close doors it wouldn't solve my dilemma

Don't laugh, Artie. I used to shave my English Springer down every spring. It saved on the shedding and it was a lot cooler for her in the summer. I just had to be careful about leaving her out in the sun. Believe it or not she would get sunburned if I didn't watch her.

Being an Army medic should qualify either of you for the job.
