Wood question

Featured Replies

I'm curious if seasoned oak firewood (obviously would need to be cut appropriately) would be usable for wood burning (other than camp fires).

certainly would...

If you can, quarter saw it. Otherwise, it might not be as fine grained as you like...just judging from your posted work.

Yes. Pyrography.

Just be sure it is dry and insect free.  Then use is as any other air dried wood.

Before briginning it indoors put it in the garage.  Make sure it has no insects or larva.

Then once you  are sure (after about 30 days and no evidence) you can bring it in then quarter saw on the band saw.

Then I should think that the open grain will tend to  catch the tool and you'll have to learn to work with a lighter hand
