Popular Post John Moody Posted December 14, 2018 Popular Post Report Posted December 14, 2018 Wow, been in the shop since early this morning and time got away from me. Trying to finish up Christmas orders and at times I’m not sure I’m making any progress. Last week I was working on some hand mirrors and I’m still working on them. But today I’ve made progress. They get a Maple insert in the back and an initial will be engraved in the Maple. Today I got setup and I’m cutting the inserts on the CNC and getting them fit. I hope tomorrow I’ll have all of them engraved. We've been getting finish on cornhole game boards and a cedar table we have to deliver to Nashville, TN tomorrow morning. And I had someone order a small engraved sign for a joke on a friend of theirs about a new garage he is building that seems to keep getting bigger and bigger. I didn’t think you could get one too big! So What’s on your agenda this weekend? Show us what your working on. I love to see all the different things that get made here. What ever you do, have fun and be safe. Al B, HARO50, lew and 9 others 10 2 Quote
Popular Post lew Posted December 14, 2018 Popular Post Report Posted December 14, 2018 Trying to recuperate from Christmas present delivery. Drove from here (near Gettysburg, PA) to Pittsburgh stopped for 20 minutes to unload the gifts and then drove back. Did the scenic route (US 30- the Lincoln Highway). Passed Shanksville and stopped on the way home for a few minutes to see the Flight 93 monument. The area is still being developed but the monument- the Tower of Voices- is quite striking. It was almost dark when we stopped but I took a couple of pictures- Hope to get to the shop this weekend. Grandpadave52, DuckSoup, Harry Brink and 9 others 9 3 Quote
Gene Howe Posted December 14, 2018 Report Posted December 14, 2018 Thanks for the pics, Lew. That memorial is on my bucket list. Any idea when it'll be completed? John Moody, lew and Cal 2 1 Quote

Thanks Lew for taking a slight detour, the pictures and sharing them here. Very humbling to see especially this time of year. The bottom picture is perfect symbolic beauty. Cal and Dadio 2 Quote

It looks like mostly what is left is landscaping. There is a visitors center and a "Wall of Names" there, but we needed to get home and didn't visit those areas. Popular Post Gunny Posted December 15, 2018 Popular Post Report Posted December 15, 2018 (edited) Plugged the black hole behind my drill press. While adding a port for DC next to the Drill Press I had to pull it out for access. WOW. The stuff that collects in this black hole is amazing! Took 20 minutes to sort all the screws and drill bits that got dropped, never mind the one time jigs, sandpaper, etc etc. Not much to look at but a lot less to clean in the future. If I need to lower the table past the cart that sits in front I only have to move cart and pull the DP forward a few inches. Nothing spectacular. Popular Post DAB Posted December 15, 2018 Popular Post Report Posted December 15, 2018 well, had nothing planned for the rest of the year, and then last night, my phone rings as i'm preparing dinner, Los Angeles number (i went to college at USC), and i guessed it's USC calling again for a donation, so i let it go to voicemail. we have dinner, clean up, grab my phone and see i have a voicemail. ok. listen to it. surprise, surprise, surprise! it's a cousin, who is trekking from the east coast back to LA, and would like to stop and visit us in Santa Fe, NM. sure. i know she exists, but she was born the year i graduated from USC, so if i ever saw her in person, it was when she was a little infant. she's now all grown up, an accomplished actress, and her next gig is not until Feb, so she has some time to see the country. so i may wander down to the shop tomorrow AM and see if i have enough stock to turn a quick bowl as a gift for her. stay tuned.
