MaDeuce you are saying a Dremel is cheating but it is no more that driving a car is cheating over walking.

I do have a Foredom like what slick suggested. I wore it out and after I switched over to air powered instead of it I was so surprised how something else rather than the Foredom was so useful. I then added the Dremel and wham the world was changing right before my eyes.. Next I added some down right wonderful bits from Wood Carvers Supply. com and it seemed like I have went to heaven for it all fell into place with my carving.

There is nothing wrong with these guys suggestions but like the set up Gene has suggested, to me this is for the guys who likes to brag about what he owns for that is lots of big bucks for something and as of yet I don't know if he has carved anything for us to see....

I even say the little air powered angle drive drills Harbor Freight sells is two additions to my carving set up I use all the time. And I bought both drills for less the 40 dollars by taking in the 40% off any one item when I made the purchases so MaDeuce these guys I am sure are sincere with their suggestions but hey I know the services don't pay like civilian doctors and nurses so look around for you can still carve without using your house as ca lateral for some of those carving tools.

But maybe those guys can show how much better their more expensive carving machines can do on some wood. I don't mind showing what the cheapest tools can do so lets compare for Ma Deuce to look for herself .IMG_1269.thumb.JPG.f24e9f18451e3f486e3b99c8d157d49b.JPGIMG_1265.thumb.JPG.789115ea15449ab51b1af8cd2a2f5b27.JPG

And for sure I want to say the bits from Wood Carvers Supply are whats doing all of my work..

The bits I bought in 2015 I still use every day I am carving in the shop. I do have to clean them every so often with lacquer thinner but the 4 bits are still looking like new.....I have bought more styles since then  the originals are still used more than any other bits..

Plane Sawn: Plain sawn lumber is the most common type of cut. The annular rings are generally 30 degrees or less to the face of the board; The resulting wood displays a cathedral pattern on the face of the board.">PS, you have no idea how much Gene paid for his Foredom, or not.:)

I have a Dremel rotary tool. I just carve about as well as a blindfolded lieutenant trying to land nav

I absolutely hate that when it happens.  Maybe, if and when you get some free time, you can practice and show her up.
