September 28, 20187 yr It’s beensaid that every good pitcher needs a backup so here I am. Today, I’m John Moody’s hairy legged backup for the Friday post. Finally, we finished siding our house and I’m back in the shop. My to do list has gotten only longer in the past month while I turned siding expert but mama is happy. I have a show in November and I’m building jewelry boxes but tomorrow I’ll start building an 84” x 40” farm table. So, as John would say, “What’s on your Weekend Agenda?”
September 28, 20187 yr I tried using my band saw yesterday, and realized it needed tuning. So today, before I mow (at last) I'll be trying to get it dialed in.
September 28, 20187 yr Well since it's getting to be that time of the year again, time to get firewood supply built up. Also need to get 3rd motherboard for my komputator (space heater)
September 28, 20187 yr a few days ago, a friend contacted me on another forum, he needed a little piece of wood for a box. he had bought a fine 12" caliper, and it came in a wood box, but one of the sides was missing, so he needed to replace it. he's a machinist, he's used to measuring things to the thousandth. me, i'm more of a "design to the 16th type". so he posts pics and measurements. 5/8" thick. no sweat. 27/64" wide....um, ok...we couldn't just go with 7/16"? fine. rip to 27/64" and 5-49/64" long with mitered ends. really? this might take 2 tries. made him a replacement and a spare (making 2 at that point was pretty easy), posted pics of each exact dimension, and he was happy. well, pretty happy. my 5/8 thickness was fat by 0.0005". pretty sure a half a thousandth isn't going to make any difference. when working with wood: if it's too small, add some glue. if it's too big, get a hammer or large clamp. it'll fit eventually. shooting tomorrow (open house for the range), not sure about sunday.

September 28, 20187 yr Selling my old Craftsman TS today. Have had it set up with dado for over 10 years as the second saw and decided it was time to let it go. Got to work this afternoon so can buy more ammo. Tomorrow will fork on more Christmas ornaments. Hope there is a bright light in the sky (eastern or otherwise ) tomorrow.

September 28, 20187 yr Shuttle bus, 'er truck services tonight + tomorrow. Mowing has resumed since rain departed; tonight & tomorrow night seem like good campfire nights for S'mores. Have a mission with purpose Sunday PM if things work out...hopefully more about that Monday. Both vehicles + mower need oil/filter change, serviced; of course they have to be idle to do that. All else TBD. Just interrupted as I was typing this post...heard a "large" radial, multi-engine??? aircraft; when I finally could match the sound direction with site, a B-17 flew nearly overhead...VERY COOL!
September 28, 20187 yr Still starting up my shop. Realized my joists were comprimized by plumbers so got the engineer to design me a soluton. Then I can resume waterproofing the basement walls and sealing out the radon. Then if not already spring (I am a bicyclist first wood guy second) I will do my best to create a hamper for my spouse. Or rather an ornate box to holds two hampers.
