Popular Post HandyDan
I have been working on some angel ornaments for Christmas. Here's where I am at so far. Have some bodies and wing sets done. The finished one in the front is what they will look like. lew
Those are awesome! What did you use for the halos?
Steve Krumanaker
I remember when you did these while on the WOOD forum. Liked them then and like them now! Steve

Gerald
Stick the notch can be either sanded on spindle sander or carved and sanded. Dan you are the man. Love the crown also

Lew, the halos are sold as halos at the craft stores in the jewelry section. They are 23mm halos. My first batch years ago I used a cap with them and glued the two together. I can no longer find them and I am just going to do this batch this way. and glue them on lew, Steve Krumanaker and p_toad 2

I turn them starting with a 1 3/4" X 6" blank. Turn it round and then turn as many wings of of it as I can get. I turn a dish in the end and then use a parting tool to cut a groove and leave a stub and turn the concave part of the wing as I am doing so. Mine ar small so I can't use a spindle sander so I use a scroll saw and a file for the wing notches. Rick Hutcheson's video was the inspiration. Click on "Free Woodturning Videos". About the 22nd video down the page. http://www.scrollsaws.com/ Edited September 24, 2018 by HandyDan Stick486
