After cleaning and lubrication. Made by M.C. Gooding & Co. Ltd., Croydon, England. The company was liquidated in 1959. By George, Pete, I think you've got it! The handles are the same shape, the large gear is identical, what I can see of the black casting looks the same, and the knurled "bearing" thingy seems to be the same as well. AS for the breast plate, mine was probably a "handyman" version of the more robust cast one. Thank you! John
September 13, 20187 yr Author That's the identical casting, but mine has a knurled nut holding the crank shaft in place, where this one has a pin (on top in the pic) which must keep the shaft in place. And no "KEEN" stamp anywhere. Maybe mine was assembled on a Monday! John
September 13, 20187 yr John, have you checked out this site? https://oldtoolheaven.com/related/goodell-pratt-breast-drills.htm Yours looks like a 477 or 483. Is it a 3/8" or 1/2" chuck,2 jaw or 3 jaw? Looks like Goodell Pratt and Miller Falls merged with Miller Falls In 1931, they were considered a top rate tool company.
