So...I can only assume that most of you have graduated from mortising attachment to dedicated mortiser.

 

Well...I'm going to learn from others...

 

I have decided to scrap the idea of using the WT with the attachment and will "go to the head of the class" and go straight to a mortiser.

 

I have plenty of time to shop as I have not yet moved into what will be my future home...a small house and a big barn in the back.  The barn/large garage will be my shop.  Timing is likely to be next spring...plenty of time to find a good used mortiser.

 

Top of the list for searches are Jet and Powermatic.  Have seen several on Craigslist and eBay so checking both from time to time will yield a good deal

    Nick,

    Depends on how many mortises you plan on cutting. 

    And the space you have available for more machines.

    Personally I think that using a machine for as many purposes as possible is the way to go.
