Popular Post John Moody Posted September 7, 2018 Popular Post Report Posted September 7, 2018 This weekend begins dove season here in Alabama so I’m planning on being in a corn field at noon Saturday for some shooting fun. Probably wont get a lot of shop work done so I’m going to the shop today for a while and help work on more of the oak tables. Two more tops are stained and about ready to be mounted to the bases. So that’s what’s happening here this weekend and in the shop, what’s on your agenda? All of us here at TPW love to hear about your projects, so share your photos and agenda with us. Even if your just relaxing and having Coffee. What ever very you do this weekend, have fun and be safe! p_toad, Grandpadave52, HARO50 and 2 others 5 Quote
Grandpadave52 Posted September 7, 2018 Report Posted September 7, 2018 Meeting my brother for lunch in about an hour; a few errands after that; normal FR/SA transport duties; beyond that, not much... Rain started about 7 AM; very heavy at times. Current forecast models predict 4.5"-6.5"+ of rain by Sunday evening although a high of 69o is predicted for SA; nice break from the sweltering 90's As for the doves John, come up...usually have 15-20 turtle doves feeding on the ground most days; if you want to make it sporting they line up on the power lines 20-50 quite frequently; like shooting fish in a barrel. Gary Hanscom Posted September 7, 2018 Report Posted September 7, 2018 Getting ready to button things up for the coming fall/winter seasons...mainly closing the pool, winterizing the H2O, getting the cover on and cleaning/storing the filter. Would like to get in a nice motorcycle ride with my wife before it cools down too much...didn't do much riding this year due to the high temps and humidity all summer here (Maine). Still puttering on some hatch covers for a friends sailboat. Ended up using a heat gun to remove several layers of previous owners efforts to preserve the wood. Then it's putting on the French varnish in multiple layers. Not much woodworking going on in the shop here!! Gary Cal, John Moody and John Morris 3 Quote

Ron Dudelston Posted September 7, 2018 Report Posted September 7, 2018 Like Dave, we are feeling the rain bands of Hurricane Gordon. Yesterday, we got a quick three inches and then it stopped. Two inches this morning so no siding work today. Tomorrow we are off to South Bend to see my beloved Fighting Irish play. Sunday is worship and rest. John Moody and Cal 2 Quote
Fred W. Hargis Jr Posted September 7, 2018 Report Posted September 7, 2018 A couple of our lower kitchen cabinets have doors instead of drawers, and LOML has problems bending over to get stuff out. So I'm trying to retro fit full extension shelves into the cabinets. Not a perfect solution, but better than the way they are. Don't much care for this type of work but at least it's woodworking. We're not getting the heavy rain of western IN, but it's still wet enough to stop any yard work (including a much needed mowing). Cal and John Moody 2 Quote
steven newman Posted September 7, 2018 Report Posted September 7, 2018 Between computer problems, and a little woodworking....not much. There will be a Barn Sale about 10 miles away...full of woodworking handtools, and other tools...spent my allowance last weekend....bummer. John Moody, p_toad, HARO50 and 1 other 1 3 Quote
Popular Post Gerald Posted September 7, 2018 Popular Post Report Posted September 7, 2018 This morning the members of our club selling group got together to remove a wall at the venue we sell in then we moved our display toward the front as the business is under new ownership and we are liking our new position. Hopefully sales will also increase. Working on a water fountain step stool for the childrens area at church. Noticed Sunday while on Security there was only a single step low stool for small children at a tall fountain. So I think why not a 2 step stool. And that is my project for the week. If that is not enough it is time to start on Christmas. Grandpadave52, p_toad, HARO50 and 2 others 5 Quote

Holy Cow Ron...you guys are getting hit hard again...so far we're only at 1-1/2" since 7 this morning...I saw Portland has had nearly 7" so far with a forecast between Muncie & Portland could receive up to 7" more by Sunday evening. Gene Howe Posted September 7, 2018 Report Posted September 7, 2018 Doc visit today. Big "block party" tomorrow. The host raises Angus, so we'll have some great T-bones and trimmings. Probably a few beers, too. No shop time till Sunday. HARO50, Cal, John Moody and 1 other 4 Quote

Portland is 15 miles due east of us. They canceled the Matthews covered bridge festival because of flooding HARO50 and Cal 2 Quote
