March 10, 20206 yr It is a dangerous saw for those who don't know how to use it. I have seen many times people ripping in the wrong direction and the saw grabbing and putting the board thru the wall. But it is like any power tool, they have to be used correctly and safely. I love mine and will never part with it. Herb
March 10, 20206 yr Popular Post Lots of difference of opinion about the RAS. I carefully read instructions and believe I used mine as instructed, but after a couple of incidents, especially when ripping with the RAS I decided it wasn't for me. I believe many people who do use RAS's in their shops now have dedicated them to crosscutting only. I did have the craftsman model that was recalled. Edited March 10, 20206 yr by Al B
March 10, 20206 yr You are absolutely right,Al, I only use it for crosscuts, and my table saw is for ripping. When I am already set up ripping and need to crosscut a board, it is just a matter of walking over and whacking it off. If I have a lot of short pieces to cross cut it is faster on the RA saw. Herb
March 10, 20206 yr I rarely need to crosscut anything wider than 11" . The 10" SCMS will cut that. And, it takes up considerably less valuable space. And, it doesn't require the tedious re alignment, after an angled cut, that my Crapsman RAS needed.
March 10, 20206 yr Author I next to never used the two I had and recently turned them in for the recall.
