July 12, 20188 yr Though I would give a step by step on the dye for this platter. Turn the platter back and finish. Reverse and turn the rim leaving center. Now for the dye use dark color or black and sand that back. On this case violet. after sanding apply second color , red. Now after sanding with more emphasis toward the center and apply yellow. oh there is a groove on the outside of the color to define the color line. Then time for finish applied before turning the center and more layers of lacquer. Edited July 12, 20188 yr by Gerald
July 13, 20188 yr Author I have one with blue-green and this is another dye pattern that Jimmy calls sunset. I thought with the color in the Bradford Pear this would suit it well. The beauty of doing this coloring on lathe is that if you do not like the way the color pops you can sand it off and redo the colors. The groove came from a club member who did cosmic clouds demo and used the grove to limit the color flow and I wanted to keep the color off the NE.
