See y'all from Roswell....unless we become abductees. What part of TX will you be coming through? Larry
June 27, 20187 yr Popular Post Larry maybe they decided to float the Rio G. Some say it does take a turn down around No Girlies and heads up through Mo. And some others just don't know where it goes. And from his map of letters and his use of TX twice that means lot of boring scenery unless he comes through Clyde and Breckenridge. I sure wish I had have known of him heading this way for I could have saved three days of watching the burn pile and loaded him up with some of them goodies...plus the ones that came out of my shop already had the ends sealed with Aleene's glue. Hey, thats 3 bucks lost right there Gene you could bring a big trailer for this guy is still digging stumps and roots just before you get to the blinking light thats on 180 just west of Breckenridge.....He has not pushed them up in to the large burn piles yet. Just don't mention Honey when you refer to mesquite for they might want to tar and feather you just for the fun if it....
June 28, 20187 yr Author Larry, We're going from Roswell to Denton, TX. Then from Denton to beyond Texarkana. Thanks for the offer, Jesse. But, we're driving an already loaded Ford Fusion. We made it to Roswell to late for the museum, which everyone says is a must see spot. But we did get a great meal in a place called the Rib Crib. Tomorrow, we'll visit the museum and a couple junk stores near by. Then, head to Denton.
June 28, 20187 yr Gene, enjoy the museum. Had I known you were doing that on your trip I would have suggested a movie that you watch beforehand. It is called "Paul". Still worth watching, even after the fact. It is a comedy. But you never know... Probably best in the unrated version.
June 29, 20187 yr Gene, after you get your new cutters installed, let us know how that installation went. I might be interested in upgrading my jointer and planer too. I have a different brand, I use Delta, but the basic procedures should be somewhat similar. I emailed Byrd Tools asking how hard these are to set up, and their response was that they have no installation instructions because they don't have access to the machines. I guess anyone buying these items are on their own after purchase as far as installation and alignment are concerned.
June 30, 20187 yr Gene if you are going from Roswell to Denton you'll be on 380. We live on the next east west highway which is a few miles south of your road... . If I knew when you might be going down 380 I have a couple of spike strips and I do need some practice heaving those things so let me know ahead of time. I just need a couple of minutes warning. Larry lives on the next east west road south which is I-20. He don't have any spike strips.. I'm heading toward Weatherford in the morning for first monday shopping with my list....wife says she is ready for a long walk.......
June 30, 20187 yr Author Made it to Harrison AR. Beautiful drive up route 7. Missed the Texas spike strips. Next stop is the resort. Best news yet...WE WON'T NEED TO GO THROUGH BRANSON.
June 30, 20187 yr Will be real interested in your experience of installing the Byrd Shelix. Problems, ease, "look out for's", etc. Thanks Duan

Hey Tom, FWIW, I ran across this a few days ago on You-Tube...Pretty in-depth dis-assembly/re-assembly/adjust of a Delta 22-540. Not sure of your exact model, but thought it might be helpful for at least R&R'ing the cutter head. Delta 22-540 Rebuild & More For Gene & others with the DW's, appears to be numerous how-to's for replacing the standard cutter-head with the Byrd Shelix. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=installing+byrd+shelix+head+on+dewalt+planer+
July 7, 20187 yr Thanks Dave. I appreciate that. My model is a Delta 37-190, but the procedures should be similar. I'll check it out. I tend to forget about you tube, I am more of a "open the manual and follow the steps" kind of guy.
