@lew is famous for his Celtic Knot Rolling Pins, in case you all missed it, he inserted a wonderful gallery showing some of the steps to build a Celtic Knot Rolling Pin. Great job Lew!

  • Do you need some targeted feedback from our community for your next big tool purchase? Or how would you like to know what the most preferred method for finishing casework is? Spray or brush? Well now you can, we have a new function in our community that allows you to create polls. See the following link that shows you how to create a poll.  Create a Topic With a Poll
  • Thanks to @Cal idea regarding having a single location for past "What's It" topics images for our sleuths to be able to back track through the What's It projects and see if they can still solve them, and for our future detectives as well. Cal wanted a way to do this without having to open each topic and see what the item was for that month. So I turned our winners board into an image center as well with links to the topic. Now you can access all the What's It primary images in one place, for each year. Please see the following links. The MWTCA Project Winners Board 2017, and The MWTCA Project Winners Board 2018.
  • We are working on a series of forms for you to create review for a tools, machinery, finishing, supplies, product review. The first form we are starting off with is a "Table Saw" review form. We will have a form with a variety of text fields prompting you with questions about the table saw you are writing about, once submitted, a dedicated page will have your complete review embedded within. We chose the Table Saw to start with, because it is typically the biggest, and first purchase folks make when starting their own shops, or replacing their existing Table Saw. If you'd like to participate in the form building process, please leave your feedback at this topic "Table Saw Review Form"
  • We also temporarily opened up a project I have been developing for some time now. Please see the following topic at:

Finished up the drawers for the outfeed table/table saw storage and the doors. Rolled it outside so the wife could prime it (yeah, I can get her to do my painting ). Also finished up the sanding sleeve/belt storage on the sander/planer cart.  I also started on a storage cart for my systainers - pretty much a design/build/re-design/re-build.

@lew that manzanita has some "character"

@lew, oops! :(

Waiting on some materials and building a table saw jointer jig. Going to visit a fellow woodworker this PM.  Have never met him and he only lives 2 miles from me.

I had a tough weekend, stuffed up and feeling miserable. The meds helped me breathe but also made me meaner than a junk yard dog. My wife told me so. I had plans to work in the shop, but had a foot of snow last night. Normally I would groan and complain about clearing away the walk and drive. However we have not had any significant precip in months. Things were so dry everyone was worried about fires. Some ski areas didn't have enough snow to stay open.

The sun is shining hot and the temp is 45. I plan to watch it melt, not to shovel it off:)

Hate it when that happens. Hope it didn't leave a mark?

We had a good and busy weekend. The Maple Island top is in the finishing room and we got the window seat top that matches glued.

We also got a Cedar Green Egg table almost finished. I had to run by today and pick up the wheels and blots for the wheels. We will get the hole cut in the top tomorrow.

The Frame for the wooden screen door is glued and now I’ll cut out a rabbit for the screen to fit in, them make some keepers for the screen.

And I loaded some ammo this weekend and tested it today to make sure it functioned properly.

I’m in the shop now setting up the computer to run the CNC machine. I hope to get it tested this week.

Had a woodturners meeting Saturday and was just worn out when I got home. We use cameras and project on screen and I am the AV guy. Had some problems which I hope I fixed when I got home with some updates and cleanup on the laptop. Wife has been wanting "us" to clean the garage and then she comes up with the idea for spices i  a drawer.  So I do both today. Still had time to add dye to a ornament and do the second turn on a bowl. Pics on the ornament later.

John, looks like you have got 6 bad guys laying dead and 3 holding their crotch. I love that red cedar table , and another mammoth slab glued up. You sure are a busy hombre.

got more Gummy Bears than anybuddy would know what to do w/...

things I've learned about them...

  • everybuddy deliberately loses to stick the opponent w/ them...
  • they melt and make an UN-cleanable mess..
  • they are terrible eating..
  • the dogs won't touch them..

ain't he...

Puttered in the shop most of the weekend.....might have got a little bit done...

Watched way too much basketball but they were some really good games. One of the best was the long anticipated match-up between Class 4A (largest BB class in Indiana) between 30-0, Warren Central and New Albany which had only lost one game all season. New Albany has Romeo Langford, a McDonald's HS All-American, most likely 2018 Indiana Mr. Basketball and was on track to break the all-time state scoring record held by Damon Bailey. He is ranked Nationwide as one of the top 5 recruits and has yet to commit. Choices are Kansas, Vanderbilt and Indiana; Louisville was also on the list, but probably out after their scandals and on-going FBI investigation. Over 8k were in attendance (gym was maxed out) Mid week, tickets (for a HS game mind you) were being scalped at over $100/ea. Anyway, it came down to the last shot. And the winner was Click here

Normal other duties, several errands after church and a number of tasks at home since the weather was decent for a change...I did get started on this:P

Almost every project of mine requires a new jig. Don't know if it's because of my love affair with jigs or it's a tactic to delay production. Built Lew's thin strip jig, building a table saw jointer jig. Really want this jointer out of my shop. Using a planer to its capacity and, a good blade in the TS and hand planes, make a jointer redundant.

Yesterday, I visited with a woodworker neighbor (2 miles away). Great visit. Really ingenious guy who makes some fantastic stuff. He carves, turns, does fabulous case work and some of his scroll work boggles the mind. He builds jigs, lots of jigs, rehabs old power tools, and doesn't own jointer, a computer or a cell phone. Didn't know who or where he was 3 days ago. I gotta get out more.

Phyl's sister is selling a bunch of stuff in preparation for a move to be closer to her only child, a single gal in Huntington Beach, CA. Dwayne, the woodworker, bought her generator. He happened to see some things I built for her many years ago. So, he called me and we set up the visit.
