Well it has been a while since I have posted. Life gets in the way sometimes.

This is past week I have been in my shop quite a bit and with the help of my son, Josh. We have even set him up a small shop at his house in part of his garage.

I started working on this Island top last year and things just happened and we got behind. But it was delivered yesterday.

it is finished with a hand rubbed oil finish.

and this his is the island it is going on. Not attached yet but should be by the end of today.

We also finished a poplar toybox yesterday and I thought I took a picture but don’t see it on my phone. Oh well.

One other thing I have added to the shop but not had time to even hook up yet is a CNC machine. Can’t wait to get this up and running. C8EB3F62-CE63-440C-BB33-B1778DB1EB4F.jpeg

So how about you all, what’s on you agenda this weekend? Love to here about and see all of your projects.

Whatever you do, have a fun and safe weekend.

you definitely do first rate work John...

Great to have you back with us John. Hope things have settled some what for you. I certainly miss seeing what is always cooking in your part of the country and in your shop.

The island top is magnificent.  I'm sure the client anticipation and expectations were blown away when they saw it in place.

With the new addition to your shop, looks like another expansion may be coming for a CNC room now.:P

Weekend TBD...some business items to address today and transport oldest grand-daughter to her boy friends house for afternoon then return 8 PM +/-

Still trying to recover from the cold cooties which has mired me this past week; just can't quite shake it although no fever for 3 days now.

Daughter turns 39 on Monday so birthday lunch after church tomorrow, then a trip to our favorite small town ice cream shop which re-opened Friday for a new season. I'm hoping Lime Sherbet will be Wk. 1 flavor.B)

May be some college basketball game viewing in the works this PM...we'll see. Oh, and most important, hang out with the great and always fun folks here at TPW!

IF I can stay home long enough....I might get a wee bit done IN the shop...

Outstanding island topper, Mr. Moody. What's your first project on the CNC going to be?

No woodworking for me this weekend. We're helping our grandson celebrate his birthday today. Drive back home tomorrow. Start serious work on the river table legs, Monday. Hope to deliver it by 3/10.

Not sure Gene, I’ve got to get a computer to put in the shop to run it. But I can’t wait to give it a try.

Boy that is one heck of a long glueup ,Mr. Moody. Did you do that in section's or all at once? and how did you even up the top?  I  did a pine top one time 42X96  out of 5/4 X5" boards and it was a hand plane, belt sander, scraper nightmare.

Great looking top, by the way.

Hi John, great looking work there!

Nothing wood wise is being done here right now because I still have an IV in my arm from the most recent antibiotics..

I'm hoping that the IV will come out Wednesday, THEN I can get to doing what I love to do again.

Be safe everyone and have a great weekend!

Let us know when you get that worked out John, I wish I could be there to see it as it happens.

Herb I did it in five section just using caulds on the sections then ran them through the big drum sander and biscuit joint the sections. Actually it turn out to not be as hard as I was dreading and expecting. A little belt sanding and then ROS and it was flat.

Surprised me!

thanks for the compliment!

@Grandpadave52, things have been busy around here, just finding it hard to do things when I need to.

I have a friend building a new house and they were about to clear the lot. He ask if I could use the trees they take down. Well of course I can. So we made three trips to the sawmill. Oak, Hickory, Maple and Elm were taken down. The guy clearing the lot is going to clear another one two lots down and told me he would call and give me those when he started.  I love logs to lumber!

i also finished five of ten shelves for the Shooting range to go under the shooting bench. Offers a place to put ammo and targets while shooting.

My son has decided to set up a small shop at his house and he found a few tools at a good price to star with. I went over after these pictures and clean the tops for him and they look great now.

He also got a Rigid 13” planer so he is getting going.

The past week he has been helping me try to get caught up.
