Thanks guys.

Nice miter splines! What finish did you use?

Dane, the finish is two coats of Dark Walnut Watco, a day apart. Then, two days later, one coat of 50/50 Dark Watco and Helmsmans Spar varnish followed by one coat @ 70/30, both wiped on, and a final coat of straight Helmsmans sprayed. Finally, a couple applications of Johnson's paste wax applied with 0000 wool, and mechanically buffed after the last application.

Many thanks, Dave. However, with all the wonderful woodworking posted here, I'm hardly in the game.

Beautiful job on the case Gene but as a gun enthusiast I'd like to hear about the rifle. It's a thing of beauty.

Thanks, Joe.

The rifle is a Winchester 30-30, Wyoming Centennial commemoratve issue.

I see a slight run under the right hinge...I had to use a magnifying glass to find it.  I did have to look for a while but hey.

If your thoughts are like mine when I build something I am proud of, I can't get to the computer fast enough to post it for all to see..

I see a little youngster there with that purple lining. Have you thought about putting some dark color in that beard......

Hey now, that white beard and hair is an odometer. Took a lotta hard miles to earn that color....or lack thereof. :(

It wasn't so much pride in the work as it was satisfaction in the fact that I got it done.
