December 3, 20178 yr I couldn't find any hinges then misplaced the lid when I started putting the 100 % Tung oil on. And it has sat there looking heart broken and dejected ever since. I still can't figure out what or why I had started building it! I finally asked the one who knows everything and she said she had requested a tape dispenser like the one I built for me... December 3, 20178 yr Looks like it would hold a passel of tape. You can get passel quantities on Amazon.
December 3, 20178 yr Hey Jess, what type of wood are you using, how did you make those fancy coves and how did you make the arch in the top, I love it!
December 3, 20178 yr Author To start with, the wood is ash and walnut. To those of you that uses 100 % Tung oil knows this is one of the very best products on the market and you also know it will turn light wood a good looking what ever color it happens to be. I could not find the top when I was putting the Tung oil on the reason there is a color difference. The box is 10 x 10 x 8" tall. I built a square box using ash then attached square walnut 1 x 1" strips where ever. I used bottom cutting bits like what the Legacy Mill uses. They are big and expensive and Magnate builds them. I think I strapped the box under an overhead router I converted from an old Wards overhead saw to get the looks I was after. Or I used the Legacy Mill, been too long ago to remember. Best way I have found to make the two different woods look professionally built and attached. And the miters always looks good..... That is a sharpened hacksaw blade on the front. I think it is amazing that the tapes have the same inside diameter since they are different companies that made them. Yes , the sides of the tape is always clean after I built this thing. The holes are there to make people scratch their heads.
December 3, 20178 yr Author Something I forgot but as you have already surmised I didn't put the ends on the top until I cut a few pieces with the band saw then glued them together and sanded them, then glued the ends on to complete the top then sanded it all flat....
