October 28, 20178 yr cartmMade this a few weeks ago at work to help the guys organize at work. As you can see it's become a maintenance issue. Edited November 22, 20178 yr by Ron Dudelston tags added
October 28, 20178 yr Great idea. Maybe your could put F style racks on the ends to catch some of that overflow.
October 28, 20178 yr Author It could be recreated for personal use but the guys at work simply "CAVEMAN" rules...
October 29, 20178 yr Nice design...like Lew, wish I had the floor space...someday maybe Guess using it is "not so simple a caveman can do it."
October 30, 20178 yr Looks very handy for storage of all those clamps. A number of years ago I got the New Yankee Workshop plans from PBS TV that Norm Abrams made on his show. They sent me 3 jpeg images that sure made my life easier in my garage shop to store all my clamps on the rolling rack. Evidently there were a number of the New Yankee Workshop plans that got lost or destroyed and they couldn't find the plans. So they dug around and finally found the the 3 paper copies and scanned them for me. If you are interested in the plans let me know and I can email them.
October 30, 20178 yr I guy I used to work with went to a new company that did something like "vending machines" for parts and tools for manufacturing plants. If you needed something, you'd swipe your ID badge and it would dispense what you wanted. Inventory control. I also heard of a company that had a lot of "shrinkage" on their tools. Somehow,, they'd follow the employees home or got left on-site. They saved a lot of money when they changed and gave every employee a monthly stipend for buying and keeping their own tools. The tools suddenly got picked up, put away and taken care of. Edited October 30, 20178 yr by kmealy
October 30, 20178 yr My clamps are hanging on tubafors with standoffs, screwed to the wall. Saves floor space. Works well...til I brush against a pipe clamp I didn't snug up and it falls on my head.

My prior shop had a row of 1x2s screwed into the ceiling joists (open basement) along one wall for the bar clamps and a 5 gal bucket for the F-clamps. I'm enjoying the new space.

I too, use a bucket for the 6" F-clamps. The locking plier types share the floor with an unknown number of pencils.
October 30, 20178 yr Author Use a lot of locking c clamps. Usually in winter Northern tool will sell at $20 for 5. Much better than Harbor Freight. We started using Fastenal vending machines to keep track of usage... I use a lot of locking c clamps... Edited October 31, 20178 yr by BillyJack
October 31, 20178 yr Thanks for the tip, BJ. I'll keep a look out for that sale. What brand are they?

Just the other day the pencil fairy snatched two right off of my workbench...if I'm ever able to track that vixen down, she's "gonna git it, but good" !
October 31, 20178 yr When you catch her, give her a good one for me, too. I've got three soup cans of pencils strategically placed around the shop. After she steals them of the bench, she empties the cans, too.
October 31, 20178 yr We have to find where she keeps them. I'm sure there is a few there. Sometimes I don't even get a chance to sharpen them.
