Gerald Posted October 28, 2017 Report Posted October 28, 2017 Great idea. Maybe your could put F style racks on the ends to catch some of that overflow. Quote
BillyJack Posted October 28, 2017 Author Report Posted October 28, 2017 It could be recreated for personal use but the guys at work simply "CAVEMAN" rules... Grandpadave52 1 Quote
lew Posted October 28, 2017 Report Posted October 28, 2017 Nice! Wish I had the floor space for one of those. Quote

Allen Worsham Posted October 30, 2017 Report Posted October 30, 2017 Looks very handy for storage of all those clamps. A number of years ago I got the New Yankee Workshop plans from PBS TV that Norm Abrams made on his show. They sent me 3 jpeg images that sure made my life easier in my garage shop to store all my clamps on the rolling rack. Evidently there were a number of the New Yankee Workshop plans that got lost or destroyed and they couldn't find the plans. So they dug around and finally found the the 3 paper copies and scanned them for me. If you are interested in the plans let me know and I can email them. p_toad, HARO50 and kmealy 3 Quote
kmealy Posted October 30, 2017 Report Posted October 30, 2017 (edited) I guy I used to work with went to a new company that did something like "vending machines" for parts and tools for manufacturing plants. If you needed something, you'd swipe your ID badge and it would dispense what you wanted. Inventory control. I also heard of a company that had a lot of "shrinkage" on their tools. Somehow,, they'd follow the employees home or got left on-site. They saved a lot of money when they changed and gave every employee a monthly stipend for buying and keeping their own tools. The tools suddenly got picked up, put away and taken care of. Edited October 30, 2017 by kmealy p_toad, Gene Howe and HARO50 3 Quote
Gene Howe Posted October 30, 2017 Report Posted October 30, 2017 My clamps are hanging on tubafors with standoffs, screwed to the wall. Saves floor space. Works well...til I brush against a pipe clamp I didn't snug up and it falls on my head. HARO50 1 Quote

My prior shop had a row of 1x2s screwed into the ceiling joists (open basement) along one wall for the bar clamps and a 5 gal bucket for the F-clamps. I'm enjoying the new space. Quote

I too, use a bucket for the 6" F-clamps. The locking plier types share the floor with an unknown number of pencils. HARO50, p_toad, schnewj and 2 others 5 Quote
BillyJack Posted October 30, 2017 Author Report Posted October 30, 2017 (edited) Use a lot of locking c clamps. Usually in winter Northern tool will sell at $20 for 5. Much better than Harbor Freight. We started using Fastenal vending machines to keep track of usage... I use a lot of locking c clamps... Edited October 31, 2017 by BillyJack p_toad and Gerald 2 Quote
Gene Howe Posted October 31, 2017 Report Posted October 31, 2017 Thanks for the tip, BJ. I'll keep a look out for that sale. What brand are they? Quote

Gene Howe Posted October 31, 2017 Report Posted October 31, 2017 When you catch her, give her a good one for me, too. I've got three soup cans of pencils strategically placed around the shop. After she steals them of the bench, she empties the cans, too. Quote
HandyDan Posted October 31, 2017 Report Posted October 31, 2017 We have to find where she keeps them. I'm sure there is a few there. Sometimes I don't even get a chance to sharpen them. Quote
Gene Howe Posted October 31, 2017 Report Posted October 31, 2017 Ever notice she doesn't steal the ones with dull points or broken lead? Quote
