Today people redecorate every few years and furniture from Pier One is on top of their list because of the price.. You said it - it seems that most people have really fallen for the "keeping up with the Jones'". They all have to have the latest thing to show off to their friends. It does not seem to matter whether it is a car, cell phone, TV or the furniture in their house. So why buy expensive stuff that will last - that is not the "Cool" thing to have - they want the expensive "COOL" thing instead. And I say expensive COOL thing because the retailers know people will buy it, so they bump the price because it is the COOL thing

Take them with you when you leave, they can sew them back on again, I saw a few years ago where in china they were sewing the big toe on when they lost a thumb. Looks just like the thumb, only shorter. September 24, 20178 yr we have furniture that is 20+ years old, that pre-dates our getting married. i have t-shirts that are in the same category. we have a warm, comfy house, and we really don't care what you think about the furnishings or our clothing. but you will not leave hungry!
September 24, 20178 yr First woodworker's club meeting program that I went to was by a doctor who told us to put a digit in a zip lock and then in a cup of ice water and head off to ER. In the last 35 years, I've never needed that lesson thankfully.
September 25, 20178 yr guess you don't need all the conveniences to produce quality woodworking. I definitely couldn't work on the floor like that.
