August 17, 20178 yr That's one HUGE piece. Can you imagine the weight when it's full of books? Hope she's got a PERMANENT place for it. Great job, my friend.

I built a lot of it from scraps from my school shelf build so I'm not sure how much plywood is actually there but I'd guess at least 2 1/2 sheets of 3/4" baltic birch. I'm putting it on 6 - 2 1/2" slides but it still won't move easily.

August 18, 20178 yr Good idea, that would be ideal. Even a false bottom in part/all of a drawer, the drawers are fairly deep. Herb
August 18, 20178 yr Great job Ron...I like your design much better. Are you going to be able to get it out of the shop?

August 25, 20178 yr Hi Ron great construction, thanks for sharing. I have some suggestions if you are not upolstering this chair. I would add some radius to the inside of the arm rests and the back. That way the body siting in the chair is not rubbing on hard corners. The use of pocket screws is a great idea even if glued in dadoes to act as clamps. For the ones that show you may want to hide them or put in fillers. I assume you will use edge banding for all the exposed plywood edges. I cannot wait (but will have to) to see the finished product.
August 29, 20178 yr Author Popular Post Well, the chair is in its new home and has a very happy owner. As promised, here are pictures of the finished product and Rylee.
August 29, 20178 yr Ron, while I have to say I wasn't much of a fan of the original idea, your concept knocked it out of the park. Turned out great and obviously a very happy young man received a unique piece of furniture. BTW, I hope you signed/ dated it somewhere?
