Good evening, folks!

I'm here because of Stick's invite so blame him for anything I say or do that you don't agree with but if you like what I say or post or build then thank you in advance.

Like many of you I have been a woodworker for a long time, seems like my first projects were in the mid 60's.  In the mid 80's to early 90's I had a woodworking business and at one point had a partner and about 8 employees.  I designed and built furniture and we did restorations, custom builds, repairs, and refinishing for most of the interior designers in this area.  I left that business to my partner in about '91 or so and entered into the wonderful world of Technology Sales where I've been until last year when the company I worked for pulled out of the region.  So Sandy (my wife) and I decided it was a good time to build a CNC router and for me to stay home doing woodworking (she's an amazing woman!!).  You can see some of our woodworking projects here on my YouTube Channel - David Falkner Woodworking

I participate in about a dozen forums for woodworking, CNC, and acoustic guitars. Our goal is for me to build acoustic guitars and I have two in the works, one about 90% complete and the second one is about 20% complete.  We have wood for about 30 more, give or take, so I really need to be building guitars instead of doing work for other people but right now they pay and the guitars don't - LOL!  Our 'shop' is our two-car garage so it isn't large by any means but it is well equipped and there is a good work flow.  We just can't build anything large - no room.

My friends accuse me of just building fixtures and jigs and templates instead of guitars or actual projects; I'm an engineer wannabe and love the intricacies of building fixtures and such so I guess I'm guilty as charged.

I play guitar in our Praise Band at church and sing in choirs, quartets, etc.  Between Sandy and me we have 6 kids and 11 grandkids (I think that’s right, ya’ sort of lose count after a while).  It’s interesting but the kids are all girls and one boy and the grandkids are all boys and one girl.

And for those who are curious, Falkner does not have a ‘u’ so my screen name is actually spelled correctly.  I do have a double standard, though… you can write me a check and spell it any way you want. :D

I’m looking forward to being here and appreciate the invite, hopefully I won’t bring the forum’s collective intelligence down more than a few notches.

PS - I understand donuts need to be offered up front, so...

Nope, that's exactly 170 more donuts than I've had in the last year. :P

only 170!!!

for this crowd...

ewwwww boy!!!

Welcome aboard David.  The CNC forum here is pretty new so you will be a huge asset with your experience in the craft.

Thanks for the you tube links.  I watched the one for an attic door latch; I plan to watch several more.

Thanks, Cal!  I don't see a CNC subforum, am I just missing it or has it yet to be created?

That attic door latch was fun to create and it's still working just fine.  I hate that we did the video portrait instead of landscape but the latch mechanism didn't fit the landscape format.

Hi David, great to see you found your way here. I will definitely check out your youtube channel!

Thanks Stick!!

Steve

Well, David...bout time you showed up.

Thanks for the doughnuts, I just hope Stick hasn't eaten them all yet.

Thanks, Bill!  Stick complained early so my guess is they're gone...

No doubt...you know how he is...never tells you the sweets are there until they're all gone!

Welcome aboard!

Hey David.  Glad you're here.  Look forward to your participation.

Good to see you here, David. I'm not sure which ones but I have seen you on other forums....regardless, Welcome!

it's in the fledgling stage at the moment...

David Welcome to the crew. My wife's folks were living at Haughton when we meet at Northeast or whatever it is now. Look forward to seeing your guitar progress. We love pictures. Some say it didn't happen w/o pic.

Thanks, Gerald!  It's still Northeast to me.  I went to LA Tech and visited friends at Northeast often.  And I am like you on the photos - I rarely post anything without photos unless it's a comment on an existing thread.  Photography is one of my hobbies so I do my best to post good photos with good lighting and composition, same as my videos.

...always have been A+ quality...

I'm late extending a welcome David so welcome to TPW. Awesome introduction BTW!!

I hope you find everything to your liking, but if not, shout out. I think you'll find the Admin & Forum Host team here to be the friendliest, most helpful and accommodating anywhere in webdom. Looking forward to seeing your work here and tapping in to your expertise. I barely can spell CNC but enjoy seeing what can be done in that arena.

No doubt the donuts are long gone by now with this crew and as for being invited over by @Stick486, we'll never hold that against you. Jump in and join the fun and of course bring donuts anytime you can.:P

Glad to have you aboard Dave. I know Stick invited you, but were friendly here . No penalties!  CNC is a bit out of my league but I really appreciate seeing what can be accomplished with it.

I know you're here David, but I suppose I should still say welcome to the super intelligent one.
