June 15, 20178 yr When "Social Media" took off with "My Space" both of our kids set up accounts...BUT they had to have it open to my wife and to keep tabs on it which they did. Our son dabbled a bit and then closed it out as he had better things to do. Our daughter used it quite a bit with her friends from school and church. Then when Facebook came down the pike they made many changes that made it more useful with many different features. So my wife set up a Facebook account and it really took off for her as she is a teacher (Special Educator working with K-1st grade kids with moderate to severe autism) and it was a great tool for working with other teachers and parents making communication much better and the ability to help with resources. Another valuable thing about Facebook is being able to keep connected with friends (local and international) as well as the various missionaries that we support and sponsor. So it has been a great resource for us as we have so many friends all over the country and around the world. Tami and I decided to share an account as opposed to having separate accounts so we are both on the same page with all that is going on with all of our friends and family. Tami is the more kind, loving supporting one as she counsels with a lot of friends, teachers and parents of kids in her class and posts many uplifting and encouraging posts. Me on the other hand I keep track of things seeing all that is going on with friends and family as well as making numerous sarcastic comments (I know, that is had to believe about me as I am such sweet gentle soul). So whenever I post anything I have to put "(Allen Here)" so that people don't think my wife is a terrible person. We have a lot of fun together and find that Facebook has been a very good tool for us to keep connected with lots of friends and family around the world. It is also a great ministry tool as well as we are involved in a number of things at church. So if you care to, you can find my wife Tami and I on Facebook under the handle: Tami N Allen Worsham
June 15, 20178 yr Author A friend of mine in Ohio was always a big mushroom hunter and did very well. One year I asked how how mushroom hunting was going. He said, "I'm such a wimp, I have hunted them all my life, gone miles off road" "Yesterday I got about a mile from my car and realized I had left my cell phone in the car" He felt so uncomfortable without it he had to go back and get it.
June 15, 20178 yr selling to people you know is hard enough (hey, how about a friend discount?!), selling to strangers - forget about it.
June 15, 20178 yr All great points @Allen Worsham Seeing Allen's post definitely shines a spot light on the positive aspects of FaceBook. The experience you have on Facebook is dictated by how you use it. I'd also like to add, the slave trade, the terrorists, those sites are mainly shut down, but many are left up and running for a reason, law enforcement uses Facebook too, and Mark Zuckerburg is very cooperative with law enforcement. The philosophy is, law enforcement would rather have the bad guys communicating in the open, where they can see them, rather than underground. Same with Twitter, and other social media outlets. FBI and Home Land Security has been able to follow the movements of those unscrupulous characters, thanks to Facebook. Just another view on it. Facebook, I feel does more good than not. Take our example, without Facebook we never would have had the interaction we've had with our sponsors, without our sponsors we have no community, so in a sense, you have Facebook to partially thank for our community staying live here. Responsible and smart use of FB, returns an enjoyable experience. By the way, to the purist "anti Facebook" folks who suggest one should never use Facebook because they support criminal acts, is like saying one should never eat Wonder Bread, because bad guys eat Wonder Bread too.
June 15, 20178 yr All of Phyl's family use FB extensively. That's their preferred method of staying in touch. We're the only luddites in the group. We just use the phone, and occasionally, actually write a letter. Phyl bakes her own bread, too.

I think the Marketplace just takes posts from all sales communities and puts them in that one place. These are probably only in your area and not all over the US.
